Hey Guys,
Anybody have a trick or tool to install the engine case bottom oil drain bolt on a 2008 SDR?
Were talking the R model with the fat Akapro exhaust.
Having a hard time thinking I have to drop the exhaust just to change oil.
I got the drain bolt out, but getting it back in is another story.
I have made a tool to install the oil sending unit on the LC8 of my 950 ADV.
Has a pull string like on a top.
Cheers!

viewtopic.php?f=18&t=25639&p=316653&hilit=replacing+drain+plug#p316653 - either drop the pipes or tape the plug to the underside of a large flat spanner and locate and refit from rhs - pita.

Got it in.
Damn if I was going to drop the exhaust to change oil.
I put too many miles on my bikes for silly shit like that.
Started to make a tool to put the plug back in, took 2x designs.
Not much room down there!
Made a thin open end wrench just to get the threads started.
Cut 0.060 sheet of aluminium 1 1/2 wide x 9 inch long with an open end to fit the plug flats.
Pushed the plug up to meet the threads with a allen wrench.
Less then a minute with my new tool.
My misses old hand mirror and a bright light was useful.
Good to see you are still about #47.
Hope all is well and KTM's are still serving you well.
Little on the over loaded side with 6x KATooms in the shed.
Need to move 2x.
2x SuperDukes...a R model fell in my lap so had to have it. Both 2008's
2 x Adventures, one 950 I put 50,000 miles on ..so another low mile 990 30th edition fell from the sky for me to give a good home to.
A 690 Enduro 2018.
And last but not least...my 300 2 smoke woods bike.
Ride fast / take chances.
Cheers!
Ohhhh,,,,,whats your take on draining the oil from the bottom side screen?
I always clean / inspect that screen on oil changes any way.
Just give it a good lean over?
