Data logging

So gents, since I'm not content with anything until I prove it for myself I feel the need to start logging data to help better my tune. I already have an Innovate LM-2 from some car tuning and I'd like to put it to use...

I've learned that KTM uses some other diagnostics interface system called k-line (as opposed to OBD). This sucks because instead of plugging in the OBD connector to log data i need to explore other options.

I'd like to log throttle position, rpm, and both MAP sensors. I dont want to hack a bunch of wires in the stock wiring harness. I think the cleanest (and most time consuming) solution would be to build two jumper harnesses to install in between the ecu and the bikes wiring harness. The jumpers are where I'd be able to easily tap for the signals I want.

So does anyone here know male and female connector part numbers for the ecu's 26 and 34 pin connectors?

If not, I could build a jumper harness for each sensor.
So does anyone know the p/n's for the:
3 pin MAP sensors,
3 pin TPS sensor, and the
2 pin rpm pickup?

Any help is greatly appreciated and I'm open for other suggestions. thanks!

Have a look here:

We used to get the connectors for the O2 sensor removal here before tuneecu, good bloke to deal with.

Awesome I think that'll work. Thanks a lot dude!

I am extremely interested in what you are doing but am not sure I follow what you are doing...

It is basically a system that logs what your doing with the throttle and so on while also collecting data from the road /track I guess.
It is used in racing and one can see on the puter where the rider brakes and opens the throttle point of view entry and exit of turns.
If compared to other riders and so on it can be used to gain valuable time in said entry and exit.

Review of such data suggest that a lot of riders actually not opening the throttle full even on longer straights... It seems we all do it...

Good system if you really want to see what happens and compare.

Cheers big fella, I'm with that, just not the how and what software and such.
Will just have to wait. I've found even the sketchy GPS timer gives good info if done broadly.

That ^^ is one form of data logging but this is much less complicated.

Basically im trying to tune my bike with tune ecu and I'm at the point where I can't get it any better by feel alone. I want to record data on RPM, throttle position, both cylinder's "manifold" pressure sensors (even though we don't really have an intake manifold) and wideband oxygen sensors on both cylinders. Recording all of this data through varying conditions will help me develop a safe and effective fuel tune. Doing it on the street and not on the dyno keeps it cheap for me and I'm pretty confident I can do a better job than some dyno operator who has 60 minutes to make it as good as he can.

I need the connectors mentioned above so I don't have to hack anything into the stock wiring harness. I will make a small harness that will be installed in between the bikes harness and each sensor. In these small harnesses, I will tap into the signal so I can log the voltage signal with my data logger. This is a clean and easy solution that requires no cutting or stripping of the bikes harness which is much better in my opinion.

The logger I use is an innovate lm-2 which is normally used for cars but will do just fine for the bike. I hope that clears it up.

Cheers!

Been doing the same, but I am using Zeitronix data logging. Slick little item. About the size of a pack of cig's....but better for you http://www.zeitronix.com/index.html

I just tapped into the TPS, Coil and MAP sensors with a breach in the insulation wire. I figured I didn't need to do anything more elaboate than that because it would be temporary anyway.
