Hi guys, a couple of months ago I removed my secondary butterflys and am very happy with the results so today I finaly got around to removing the shafts. I got the shafts out with no problem but did not disconnect the wires going to the black box that controls the shafts. I turned the ignition on to be sure there was no error light and the box clicks for a few seconds then the FI light flashes in groups of seven. I dare not proceed with blocking off the holes until I am sure this is not a problem. Why is it flashing if the electronics are still hooked up? Anyone know if it will run OK like this? I have neither Tune ECU cable nor laptop. Any help much appreciated.

The secondary butterfly controller runs a test sweep to check the mechanical end stop positions. With no mechanism attached it sees incorrect readings and sets a secondary butterfly fault. I do not know is this fault sets a fail safe program that would limit running or performance.

Best of luck, Kuerbis

I had the same error codes for a while on my bike - it does not affect the running, though it obviously might if you did still have secondary butterflies in place.

Kuerbis' answer is perfect - that's exactly what it does. The bike will still run 100% however.

Thanks for the replys, thats kinda what I thought. I can live with the flashing light, I'm just afraid it wont pass inspection next year. At least I still have 11 months to figure it out.
