After nearly four years of no problems I suddenly get one.

So this morning I try to set of to meet Klinky and Shade and the battery was dead. Heard of this happening but never to me before so I put the battery on charge and have given it a good 6 hours - it should be fine.

I connect it back onto the bike and before I start to re-clip the wiring loom nightmare into position I switch on the ignition to check that I have power to turn the engine over. At first the dash lights up but then suddenly it dies and all I get is a continual buzz of what I can only guess is the fuel pump.

Usually when you turn the ignition on the dash lights up and the needle does a sweep up the dial. This now doesn't happen, just blank screen. And nothing works, no horn or starter switch, nothing. Ecxept the alarm - that works fine from the key fob. But the buzz from the fuel pump is constant, (At least I think it's the fuel pump - really hard to tell where it's coming from - somewhere to the rear of the tank it sounds like?)

Usually after the carbs are primed it stops doesn't it?

Anyway, I've tried disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it and the problem is still there. Not sure what to do now. Out of ideas other than to go and charge up the battery more but I don't see this as a low battery problem.

Anyone got any ideas? There seems to be a lot of experience out there of this sort of problem.

Update.

Stripped everything off again, checked all the fuses, went back to scratch and reassembled everything.

No problem now, it's as thought the episode never happened. Which is a bit worrying because now I'll not trust it for a while.
