How I "insulated" my 2008 SuperDuke Rs Oil light s

By public demand, I'm posting this in a new thread. This is what I did to my oil-light sensor cable. Thanks to all the info in
, especially SDR for clarifying it all for me.

I suggest you do this, or at least check the cable before you start having problems.

I've done about 20min or so good ride in the damp so far. When I got back I idled the bike for maybe 5 minutes and no oil light came on! This is what I've done.

Here you can see the "before" pic; it's rubbing against the hose.

Here's the connector, rubbed through.

Here's the cable "insulated" with a neoprene fuel hose I had lying around.

Here's the other cable before I "insulated" in the same way.

And here it's partially "insulated"

And, here it is in all its overkill glory.

I've then zip-tied the "insulated" wires to the clutch cable in an effort to avoid the hot coolant hoses etc.
I also noticed that when I put the R&G upper crash protector back on, the bolts protrude on the back side, and they push the cables around, so I was quite careful to make sure that the cables were pushed below the bolts, and not on- or over the bolts towards the coolant hoses.

Seems to work so far!

Please improve on this if you have different ways you've fixed it and/or other suggestions. Thanks!

Just went a filled it up and the oil light stayed on when I started it up at the service station. A couple of revs and it went out but then when I got home, and let it idle, back on it came.

I've been religiously watching the oil level waiting for it to lose a bit but it hasn't. If anything, it's remained a tad above the top mark since I picked it up.

With higher revs causing it to go off, it doesn't seen as though its the insulation problem however, I'm now armed with some pics so I'll go and have a look.

Thanks for the info.
