Leather cover for SDR seat

Thought I'd try out a leather seat cover for my SDR single seat. Saw them on ebay and was not sure if the quality would be good.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BLACK-STITCH- ... 51add50a07
When it arrived it seemed really well made and top quality stitching so plunged ahead and removed the vinyl type Powerparts covering, (it's the after market gel version, not the rock hard SDR one that has no cover). Staples came out fine and I could easily replace it if the leather one doesn't work out. I've got a heavy duty staple gun so no problem with trials putting them through the plastic moulding.

First few staples sorted out the initial stretch and position over the base - everything seems to be a good fit and size.
I'll finish off tomorrow and post result.

Bic- I did the same but haven't installed it yet. Wasn't certain if I had to remove the vinyl covering but I guess it would be pretty tight if not. Looking forward to seeing the finished article.

Finished the stapling and it fits great. There are parts where you have to really pull the leather to make sure there are no wrinkles and it's hard to keep it looking really neat underneath but I guess you never see it once installed. Hardest part is keeping the stapler pressed really tight against the leather and seat base when pulling the trigger. If not really tight the staple doesn't go neatly through the layers and bends and you have to pull it out and have another go. Now I just have to wait for Adam's carbon base unit to arrive from the States and I have a right posh seat!

If anyone has a gel seat they wanna sell let me know. The standard on the road with jeans on is a bitach on my poor arse.

Feedback on the leather cover for the single SDR seat is that it's proving good. Done two track days and a few hundred miles road riding since fitting.

Surface is really an improvement over the plastic material because it is a lot more slippery and lets you move across the seat on track much easier. I like the fact that it will wear in over time and get polished in the places where there is more use and contact.

One thing to note for anyone getting this cover and fitting it themselves. You have to stretch the leather REALLY tight when fitting and use the staple gun around the edges in a considered way. Otherwise it will ot fit well and may end up loose or with creases at the edges. You just have to take your time and be patient.

Hi Bic. May I ask the question.

During my last visit to workshop, between all these fancy Harley Davidsons, bike went off from the sidestand, on flat surface, with front wheel turned to the right. No obvious reason, no one were near the bike when its happened http://www.ebay.de/itm/390778668289?_tr ... EBIDX%3AIT It is 65€ with shipping and the staple gun.

What staple gun you used? How do you think, does cheapest one, let say for 10€ is able to do the work?
