Passenger foot pegs to the front

For longer rides I like to be able to change riding positions. I started looking at the passenger door pegs and realised the spacing is exactly the same as the engine bracket...

Added some spacers and longer bolts... Forward foot mounts. When folded up they are completely out of the way. When down they allow you to ride chopper style. thoughts?

So creating a way to move your legs on a long ride is like adding training wheels?

Must be an American?

Appreciate the constructive feedback. You guys are gems.

I just use my lower sliders if I need to stretch. They sit in the same position as the foot peg you have there, or I can rest the back of my knee on the top slider.

Just like everywhere else on the internet you'll need a thick skin around here

Good idea but it's ugly as hell.

Well let me explain then...

I can't see how anyone could ride a sports motorcycle like the SD with feet forward like that. On any roads in the UK you'd be having to accelerate, change gear, change direction and brake brake constantly and you just couldn't do it. So the only place I can think of where it would be possible is in place with a stretch of road where you just sit there doing nothing for a long time. Only in the States are there people who do that. To a UK rider it's a ludicrous suggestion.

I think there's a bit of humour here, not nastiness.

I've got an upcoming 6hr ride that's almost all highway. I don't think it's stupid or ugly. I like that in 10min I can make them passenger foot pegs again and that I've got something that will keep my legs from cramping.

Truly sorry I posted it.

I think it is an excellent idea, but you can't do it on a 1290. I have trouble with my knees binding up on long rides, and it would have to help. I had them on my Harley, and used them as soon as I was in 5th gear.

Don't take it to heart mate, those blokes are just stirring you. Probably just jealous because you thought of it first
This forum is a pretty good community that will help you and offers lots of useful advice most of the time. And all without all the BS advertising that is everywhere else!
If you want to put your foot pegs in that position then it looks like a good solution to your problem - well done.

DD,

"I wonder if there are other parts from the bike that could be relocated to the throttle to create a cruise control function.'

Had my first taste of a real, CC on a bike last week. Worked great ! New KaToom 1190...or was it a 1290 ? ?

Jump on it and ride !

More than 1000 miles, maybe 1500....and the cruz control at the end of the day heading to the barn.....priceless...

Personally I think it looks a load of shite!
But that's a matter of opinion, so if you like them then crack on doesn't really matter if you think it works. I'm 100% with you on the comfort side of it though if your covering long distances, on my last bike a Gen 1 Tuono I had crash bungs in a similar place & it was a god send being able to stretch out or have a change of position when covering a lot of motorway miles
