removing front wheel

Hey guys, in the manual, it says to remove the calipers when removing the front wheel. Can the removal/re-mount of the font wheel be done without unbolting the calipers? Just asking because I remove my front wheel from my dirt bike a lot & have never had to remove the caliper.
