Replacing the OE Flasher

I just purchased a used '08 SDR and the signal wiring was a shambles. Nice LED indicators, but they flashed at double speed even with a pair of load resistors. Those resistors always bothered me because they sink about 20 watts each and can get REALLY hot. So - tear it all out, pop the stock flasher off its' post inside the headlight and unplug it. Took a 2 pin electronic car flasher (good for 0 to 12 bulbs/LEDs) and made up a pigtail with some spade connectors to join into the stock harness plug. The X pin goes to the positive side, and the L pin connects to the load (signal lamp) side of the wiring. Resistors gone, wiring cleaned up, and only $5 out of pocket. Cheap and cheerful! When I have enough posts I'll come back and add pics.

Good on ya. I never understood why anyone would use the load resistors.

Did similar on my last bike (bandit) - I hated the idea of putting those stupid resistors everywhere with massive heatsinks on (you are right, they can get hot!) - managed to find a plug-and-play replacement for the OE flasher relay and the only change required on the wiring was a pair of diodes going to the indicator on the clocks.. total cost was about £10 - much much better solution.
