After much investigation, I have deduced that my water-pump seal is leaking. I had originally intended to have the local KTM-atorium complete the job. But you'd swear these guys didn't want to do it!! The service manager is saying, " did you top everything off & ride it again?? Did it loose water? Did water get into the oil?? " That's why I called THEM!! So THEN I ask if they can order the rebuild kit & give me a quote for doing the job...didn't hear back from them for over a week!!!!!! Finally I ordered the parts myself from KTMtwins.com, and I just received them this evening. I'm gonna try to do it b4 the weekend. I'm going out of my mind!! NEED TO RIDE!!!!

Yes, I too looked at the link from Advrider site. I did not, however, heat the clutch housing in the oven as he described, I did it the old fashioned way - hammer & punch to remove, large drift, grease & hammer to install. Everything went together smoothly, topped off oil & coolant & took it for a few easy putts around the block. After coming back, however, I noticed that the header pipe from the rear cylinder was starting to glow a dull red after idling for a few minutes! Hmm, more coolant perhaps?? I don't know if it does this regularly (I would think not) but I can't be sure, as its been a LONG time since I rode at night, and I never let it idle that long. Valves? O2 sensor?? Any one out there got an idea?????http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=147440&page=16

Yup, it's normal for your headers to glow red at night.

You need to burp the bike by getting the front wheel 20 degrees in the air. I just flushed out my system and it took several top ups before the coolant level stayed full.

Yup. Had the front wheel about 20 inches off the ground, balanced quite precariously on a trio of cinder blocks. Gonna warm her up & change the oil & filter tomorrow. Too hot today!!!
