Wheel bearings on a 990

My 2007 SDR has done 54000km and a possibly one sloppy stoppie too many. I'm noticing a bit of play in the rear wheel, not while ridding but you can certainly jiggle it on it's side stand. I believe new wheel bearings are in order.

Now there's plenty of "how to" guides on youtube etc but I thought I'd ask if there are any tips for young players specific to the old 990. '

Thanking you.

Have replaced steering head, front and rear wheel several times but never myself, too much physical violence required, particularly steering head...rely on someone who knows what they're doing.

Repair manual covers wheel bearings though.

Buy a bearing puller, easy.

You wouldn't have the wheel on the bike if you are replacing the bearings so no need to worry about the battery.

I've changed mine on the old SD. Tapped them out with with a hammer and punch. No need to worry about damaging them as they are coming out. Use a socket the same size as the outer race to tap the new ones back in. Make sure they go in square! Some people put them in the freezer for 15 mins as they go in even easier.

As Klinky says, they are a piece of piss to remove and insert.Don't buy Ktm bearings.Go to a local bearing shop. The back wheel bearings are easy to come by(30IDx55ODx13)but the front bearings a little harder to(35IDx55ODx10)come by so they may have to order them in.Just double check your parts manual because I just replaced mine which are BST wheels, but I'm pretty sure they use the stock size bearings.Cheers

Ps. I ended up paying the shop 4
30 mins labour to pull them and chuck the new ones in.
