2013 Superduke International Crashfest

Who is up for an international Crashfest again next year?
If so, when do you want to go?
Where?
In discussion the general consensus seemed to be for Portimao but there were some votes for Aragon (mostly Kawasaki ZX10 bhoys I'd have thought).

Don't care where it is so long as its after my wedding! For me not March, May (my wedding) or September.

Kidneys will be sold to make it this time!

Portimao or Jerez for me, may to September.

Ducati Pete

Ducati Pete

Although Jerez is my favourite track, I reckon Parc Algar would be wicked with a group od SD. Take out the stupid main straight (although the short back straight is long enough to get mugged on) and the place is a hooligan's playground. Makes Cadwell look flat.

I think we should put BLB on suicide watch.

tripoddave

tripoddave

2012-09-28 13:39:00 UTC

I think if we sell one of BLB's kidneys we can pretty much go for free.

Talking of BLB: What are you saying here mate?
You can do April in the spring and not September in the autumn but Nigel can only do until September?
Nightmare!

Looking at this it looks as though we might be settling on Portimao?
Anyone planning on bringing their RC8?

blb

blb

2012-09-28 14:14:00 UTC

Quite simple for me really.

March and September a total no no because of my stupid job. May is out cos I'm getting married. Obviously I'll be taking the 8 cos its all I have.

So on balance February or April possible, June, July, August, october, november

Why not pencil in something for next October, November when they come up then more people have time to save and we can make it even more special. Park Algar or Portimao no problem

Selling my Kidneys will only be for my own benefit, Selfish I know.

I'm sure everyone has times thay can and can't make it, if I'm not going with you lot I'll find a way to go at some time with anyone that wants to tag along.

Much in the same way it costs you £600 a day to close business Mike, it would cost me a lot more than money to go in May!!

Parc Algar ...is fantastic.....BUT

The main straight on my R1 I was hitting 130mph (and wheeling) as hit the crest ....with the rest of the straight to go ....this is a 1000 track if ever there was one ....the SD would be Annihilated .....

Unlike Almeria ...where all around can be raining ...but not at the track...Parc Algar ...all around is sun shine.....and its raining on the track
Aragon gets my vote

I don't think peeps will really enjoy Cartagena TBH. Its very hairpin heavy and couldn't be less flowing compared to Almeria. Also there is fook all to do of an evening with just the Golf Club, unless things have changed since I went.

For value for money and fun factor Almeria would get my vote again. 4 days for £450 compared to £650 for 3 at Park Algar/Jeeez/Aragon. Not sure what the accommodation and night life is like at those 3 circuits but I couldn't fault the Almeria trip.

To be fair: I don't care where we go so long as most people are happy with the choice.
It is difficult to argue against Almeria: almost guaranteed fine weather, cost effective and that track is excellent.

What configuration does a motorland trackday use? MotoGP, WSB or something else?

Anata

Anata

2012-10-02 12:02:00 UTC

Aragon is as the MotoGP was run just this weekend. It was 36 degrees when I went in May.

I'm not sure what hotel FE use but we stayed here with No Limits. http://www.vilarsrurals.com/vrarnes/eng/default.asp There's fook all around the circuit for miles so I don't know where else there is to stay that's large enough. Only downside is that it's 45 mins away from the track itself at the speed limits which were obeyed as there were police on the way into every shanty town. We paid 11euros every night for an awesome huge buffet.

Ah thanks mate! October/November seems good with most people..

I don't care where it is, if people are prepared to wait I will be there! Not trying to be difficult or anything, wanted to be there so badly this year and don't want to miss out again

Plus my rc8 won't care where it goes! those long straights will get eaten up and then all the fast guys will eat me again on the bends!

Sure the longer we have to prepare and save will mean even more people can attend next years event..

Id be happy with late in the year when weather starts getting depressing and you wont miss your bike.

KTM666

I will be booking Almeria in the new year.....

February is good but can be hectic.....Last year we had 24 Thundersports riders warming up for the season and a BMW franchise with 30 odd S1000R to play with ......put a WHOLE new meaning to close passing

The weather is great right up till mid May ....then its to hot and UK trips stop

I have yet to lose a day to rain (or a session for that matter) and I have been there 6 times (from February to Late October)

That's the one I want to be on for a bit of elbow bashing before the season.

I know for definite the guy I need to beat next year will be there and a few of the golden era front runners.

Feb is my busiest month at work so pretty much no chance of leave though. The logistics for getting the bike down and up for drop off make it too costly too. I need a new genny so the diesel down and up would cover that alone.

Have a good time out there. I'll watch on the forum and make bike noises. Be close enough right?

Viking

2012-10-05 13:32:00 UTC

It's too much money. The cost of that would cover a meeting. Then with the time of year and work plus getting g the bike up and down its just not really do able.

I wouldn't let the bike go up or down without me. My work is supporting me for time of to do the championship next year so I'm pushing it as it is.

If it lands on my rest days and I would only need to wangle 1day off and a few sponsors step up then it may be on the cards. As it is now it's not looking good.

I'll update my own thread but I'm planning on putting the bike out in the Scottish Superbikes for the odd round next year too for a laugh and to get more seat time plus it's televised too. I want to get over and do a round of the German Superduke Cup but that's way down the list just now.

Same old story. It's all money. If I'm putting the bike out and using tyres I'd be better doing a race. Mind I'm an unsociable bastard so all the pub Bs stories at night doesn't interest me.

I can completely understand Dan's reaction. Kev has the personal skills of Hitler at a bar mitzvah and his rant on the TDR thread was out of order. I think he was probably told an exaggerated story by his office staff and after reading Dan's post he posted based on this and let fly. Ended up with a unstoppable force meeting an immovable object. Kev seems a stubborn **** and I know first hand that Dan can and will dig his heals in if he feels the need too

As far as the trip goes however I really can't fault it in any way. The accommodation was great, value for money was brilliant. After doing a 4 days on track trip, 3 just wouldn't feel enough. And to be fair to Kev he pulled out the stops for several people on the trip to get bikes sorted, including Chris. He phoned Kawasaki UK 3 times to try and see if he could get his suspension sorted and spent a fair time trying to get it somewhere near rideable for him. He didn't have to do that. In addition having instructors like Neil Hodgson and John Reynolds is not something any other company offer. The money I spent on that lesson was money well spent. Steve Plater did a great job of running the event and you could have a good laugh with him. I still wouldn't use them for a UK trackday but the Euro event was top notch IMO.

Sorry Dan I'm guessing that isn't what u want to hear.
