Luke, different techniques work for different riders.

Some love California Superbike school, me personally, i didn't rate it.

Some love an instructor talking them round the track.

And some, like me, need to be dragged up to speed.

First of all i used Couchcommando at Mallory, we took 5 seconds off my laptimes in 3 sessions. But in the end for me it was Club Racing. THe need and desire to beat others.

I took the 5 seconds i was off the pace from the back of the pack over 2 days racing (8 races).

THe feeling when i broke the 1.00 lap at Mallory was awsome... i was ecstatic. Even though i lost a place on the last lap and was sodding angry... the lap time helped lots.

I got it by following and chasing down riders for a place.

A guy called Mick CHeshire was tasked in JErez with getting my lap times down. He was then working for a TD company. HE now runs his own.
So, we go out and i'm on the limit.... he's looking round pointing where the apex is and turn in points etc LOL.

We managed to get from a 2.15 laptime, to a 2.07 which is respectable enough. I even managed a few battles with Ducati PEte who was on a slow week and a little rusty.

However.. you WILL NOT get faster just by lapping... no matter who you go out with. You have to want to improve and ride faster and harder, you have to be comitted to letting the brakes off a fraction earlier, and cornering 2mph quicker.

If you don't want it.. it won't happen by magic.
