They have some of the AMA series on Motors TV here, not only is the picture quality ghastly, the commentator who is from the "deep south" is well annoying, well his accent anyway.

Ru$$ell is one of my all time favourite riders.

I met him in a bar at Daytona in the 90's.
He was super cool, and had just the right hint of crazy!

I met a Londoner who said that he had a hell of a time understanding northern Englanders, as if they spoke a completely different language. I have not at all of a hard time understanding Scott Russell. I think he adds a good deal to my understanding of racing and racers. It has been some time since I have caught any BSB action. The racers and tracks seem to be far more riskier and or dangerous than what the brew here.
Accents are a acquired taste and if placed in a region that speaks indiscernible drabble it takes a bit of time to grasp.
There is a song by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers called "Southern Accents" That relates to this subject and tells a tale of the misconceptions perpetrated by small minded people.
"The Yankee's call it Dumb"
Go BSB, GO Scott Russell, Go Nielle McKenzie.

I've got nothing but respect for the guy as well.

I and a few buddies were at the Blue fin in Monterey one year after a WSB race weekend and several riders showed up. Russell, Gobert, Hayden (not sure how he got is as he was just out of diapers), Duhamel (on crutches), Kosinski, etc, etc, etc.

Played foose ball with Russell and Gobert..those fookers can play foose ball...had an absolute blast.

Nori Haga was there and at one point we were all outside on the deck and all these super fit WSB racers, having been drinking like sailors all night were smoking cigarettes like they were going out of style (Gobert was smoking something else) and I asked Nori (who didn't speak very good english at the time) "You guys are supposed to be some of the fittest athletes on the planet, I thought you guys would be totally into exercising, jogging, etc". He looked up as to ponder the question and quipped back..."I esersize...chicky, chicky" while acting like he was ass fooking one of the trophy girls that were also in attendance. Classic...had the whole patio craking up!

I miss those days.
