Right we always put a vote to try somewhere different but Cadwell is THE home of the Crashfest and always wins.

If you have never been to the Crashfest its two days of riding on track, shit loads of banter and a LOT of laughs, I personally would not miss it for anything.

With 10% discount it usually comes in at £200 for both days. Then there is the camping charge which we do out best to avoid and normally negotiate a group discount down to around £5 each a night instead of £10. Sabre normally does a runner at this point and hides behind the toilets the tight cnut

Nice one Dave, I was all set to make the same switch about 2 years ago. Then I lost my mojo for bikes and it doesn't seem worth it if I'm riding a few times a year. I have a load of spares and 3 sets of wheels - I may as well stick with the old bike.

A standardish bike can nip under the 1.40's without too much trouble. Not saying it's easy, but it's not anywhere near a hold your breath shut your eyes sliding everywhere lap.

In my cadwell races pace was down due to me generally not liking the place and struggling to get motivated and focussed with so little dry time and it being cold and wet most of the weekend. Also bike was geared too short so it was inbetween gears in places and shock was wrong which was holding the rear up after the bump in Chris Curnve and loading the tyre making it move and stop me getting on the gas.

If you fast forward in this vid.
Lap 2 is a 1.40.9 - side in chris curve, missing apex at gooseneck, held up at Mansfield, pass and at bus stop with extra gearchange, and mistake at Hall Bends
Lap 3 is a 1.40.2 - using 5th all way round charlies to try coz of gearing. Missing apex at park, having a look into mansfield, limiter before bus stop, pass into mountian
Lap 3 is a 1.40.6 - again using 5th round charlies again to prevent gearchange, then a big mistake into hall bends and totally missing apex and having to nearly stop the thing dead.

From then on laps drop into the low 1.41's coz if you pause it around 7min 17 mark you'll see Nemo doing my pit signals and telling me to got steady coz there was a big gap to 5th.

1.38's were possible that day if some had have produced a 520 pitch 38t rear sprocket and removed my head from my arse.

Been hell recently man. Really tough times. Kinda dark place you hope you only get into once in your life. Loads of personal and family probs that weren't getting any better then with all the pressure I put on myself to race and throwing myself into work to scrape the money together it was always going to explode and it did!
As it stands just now I don't know what's happening. I'm still hoping to do the full season and compete for the championship but it may end up I have to miss a few rounds due to funds or worse case I'll not be racing at all.

One thing for sure is I'm not killing myself on overtime and making such big sacrifices just to ride a bike round in circles. No point kidding myself on I can afford it coz its been shown I can't, not if i want to keep my sanity anyway

Just been looking at some of the youtube clips from last year, and it looks great, not much run off but a nice soft landing on the grass. I've only been round mallory and pembrey so far and there much wider tracks . (we rented pembrey track to between friends its only £1200 for a week day for upto 15 riders so works out cheap).

Had a look at Cadwell website, Hottrax are racing there again that weekend so arrivals around 5pm again chaps. Hopefully these next 3 weeks will fly by, I'm desperate to get on track soon!

Really trying to ignore the long range forecasts but its an obsession. Anything would be better than last years Monday weather however it was still epic fun in the pissing rain!!

Suspension is now bob on after getting it set up and is a million times better.

Had a small slide onto the back straight then a bigger one later so dropped the pressure in the comp k rear and no further dramas.

Certainly knocked a few seconds off my attendance the other week.

Tony has gone home, looking forward to his fly mo footage.

Still got 4 sessions to go! Might dip out on one.....I'm neurofened up for my leg and ready to roll.

Right guys I've messaged Nolimits about Crashfest,

I don't hold out much hope but I've asked them if they could help us arrange a couple of slow parade laps in Nicks memory sometime over the 2 days. I think it would be a really nice thing to do and a fitting tribute as he was supposed to be joining us. I really hope that it can happen.

I've said that it should be us lot first and if anyone wants to join who knew him from other forums then fine. When they did it for Simoncelli it was amazing, especially the noise at the end.

Will hopefully get an answer from them shortly, I messaged via facebook not written on their wall just in case its not a goer for whatever reason. Insurance, hours and many other reasons not to let it happen but lets hope they have some compassion eh?

Had a couple of stents put into my LH coronary artery on Tuesday.
Now recovering but it's going to take a while.

I'm also in A&E with what looks like an ulcer that perforated 10 days ago. They can't believe I've been working and even raced with it. "Hard as" is what the cute young doctor called me. She is proper cute too! morphine is as good as i remember.

Since Reaper and Sabre between them have provisioned enough food to feed a festival, and seeing as how it may be quite warm, I have decided to focus on rider hydration (that's daytime hydration, although of course I will be bringing beer as well). I hope you all like Lucozade!

As an aside, a trolley with 40L of fluids in the front does not corner - there may be something to this mass centralisation thing...

Well during the week I have changed my mind several times as to wether I'd be there.
I now have a VW van sitting on the drive and I've booked a hotel room.

See at the track fellas, I should be there at 0700 Monday. I you can save a space for a van please do, if not, no drama I'll go up on the 2nd tier.

Mine initially failed last year at 106db. He told me to come back in 5 mins and it passed. It's not very scientific, I think they do it so they are seen to be doing it.
having said that, I'm taking the baffles this year.

News from Crashfest is we have our first crasher. Ronin lost the rear at Park ad lowsided. He's ok but bike needs a little love.

News flash for Cadwell.... Second Superduker is down. Early reports are Millar chasing Superdan out braked himself into Bustop, pulled off a balance point stoppie but still clipped Superdan and over the bars with bike landing on him. Superdan stayed upright which is something at least. Millar off to A&E with a possible broken foot. More details to come as they reach us.

Man, crazy day! Can't keep up with stalker about second a lap quicker, as stated good tussle with Millar over 4 laps till he fancied out taking me (no chance) the footage is entertaining from my gopro, unfortunaly front facing. Witness behind said he endo'ed and bike sliding hit my rear.

In other news Ginge's sdr has 104 bhp.....

Best looking SD went to woody but was very controversial!

Had fun jumping the mountain (yes can get air) with Alex Lowes who did the eve session.

Great couple of days riding around Cadwell and meeting you all. I have some video footage of Sabre doing what he does best and will edit and post as soon as. Huge thanks to Craig for lending me his forks, worked a treat mate and certainly helped me ride the SDR better around here than my previous two visits on this bike.

Wow what an epic couple of days, it lived up to the name "Crashfest" again.

Turned up on the Sunday 3pm watched some of the racing and then got on the beers (not too many mind), slept like crap as usual in the tent and learned from last year to wear my ear plugs as the crows make a racket at 4am onwards.

Got out on track with Stalker in the second session with Stalker right behind, however after a few laps he stuffed it up the inside of me into the bus stop, I took a wide line to do him on the exit with better drive however he was really slow out the corner and I had no room (he later told this is a good race tactic to mess them up rider behind

Another great crashfest in near tropicl weather conditions,track was perfect. Mucho pisstaking and plenty of giggles in the evening,the best bike competition didn't go down well and was a tad controvertial

My view from near the back of the pack - craic excellent as always, thanks to all for the evening banter.

It was amazing to see so many bikes with Nick's "KTM 666" avatar on - Millar's stickers were ace, can't remember a session where I didn't see at least one bike with one on. The parade laps were cool as well. I will not quickly forget the noise of a battle of Superdukes howling their lungs out at the sky. I think the man would have approved.

Despite this being the first track day of the year for me and the fact that the brakes were on their way out (pads I think, although they had 2mm at least all round before I left), I made a bit of progress. Some coaching from Reaper and Ronin saw me knock 5 seconds off my best time from Day 1 and then a few more in the sessions after that. Much appreciated chaps - ta.

In the face of some light piss taking, I continued my advanced programme of rider relaxation in between sessions. As Dan commented earlier, the crows wake you up at 04:00, so a top up nap during the day is essential in my opinion

Got some good footage of the parade laps and the dyno which I'll post up when I can. Unfortunately, didn't get a shot of the Lancaster bomber which buzzed the track twice as we were loading up to leave!

Cheers all for a great Fest, will look forward to Almeria and then CrashFest 2014!

probably the best track session i've had on te SD to date, think i'll get rid of the minitwin as i just couldn't enjoy that like i had done previously, when enjoying the SD so much. that and i have some engine repairs to fund too

Well where to start? Despite all the issues I still had a great couple of days.

First session on Monday, bike was having trouble starting totally random. Also guys asked me to go and check out the bike as it was smoking a bit, this just turned out to be old oil from resealing my clutch cover. Anyway got out next session, still intermittent starting but got it going and out we went.

Had a good session felt better getting confidence back after recent crash and little track time since. Was following James round but couldn't quite pass him, passed a few of our own in Inters but still way off old pace from last year. Nevermind..

Next session equally good, really enjoying myself. Can't remember any red flags at any time on our sessions so got plenty of time out, must admit the heat was really oppressive and it was a relief to see the checquered flag! Enjoyed the next session too, rear tyre starting to get low on tread but carry on anyway.

Thanks to everybody that came along on Nicks tribute laps, I really felt it was a fitting tribute to the man. All the noise at top of the mountain, Sabre's monster wheelie down the back straight, Millar also.

First or maybe second session after lunch and it all went wrong. Lost speedo, then display dimmed and then Bike cut out going around Barn. Coasted in to bottom pits and waited for pick up in the midday sun

Nothing bike related but personal highlight was the spitfire over head on Sunday night, hearing a big bike flat stick out on the roads 2 mornings at 5am, TT style. Best thing though was multiple buzzings from a Lancaster just a couple hundred feet over our heads on the way home. AWESOME. Nicks laps were special too.

Well that was supposed to be short! Not likely to make next years fest but you never know. Cheers Boys and Girls

Members of the Jury.

I now produce to you exhibit 1 in the trial of Millar v Superdan to discuss liability claims.

As you can see my client was merrily enjoying his trackday until some rampant superduker believed he could surpass the mighty V4 with what can only be described as a wild overtake into the hairpin, as you can see my client showed much restraint in his subtle yet progressive overtakes at one moment allowing the Superduke to have his line into Coppice, merely toying with Mr Millar like a cat would a mouse, my client then got a clean lap in and was rambunctiously hit from behind with out even a hint of a front wheel in my clients perifery, members of the jury I put it to you that Mr Millar believed he could outbrake my clients bike with a 7 year old tractor and my client was an innocent party and can not be apportioned any blame.

well i had a good laugh

traveled up sunday night and duly pitched up with the superduke clan
many beers drank and rubbish talked before getting some kip
(not mentioning james falling out his van pissed lol)

monday morning and scraped through noise testing with no baffles which is good as it means i have another two or so hp to play

generally from then on a good day had passing everyone bar a couple who done me on the straights
bit of jumping and mucking about as you do

had booked the evening and and in the briefing it was mentioned that alex lowes was in testing or something and thought nothing of it as i probably would'nt see him.
then with sighting laps done we line up for our first session, i shuffle round in my seat to see alex right behind me

then i find myself with two bikes from a race team, no idea who they where,so i dug in and hung on to them only to find i had a little more in places. so duly put it past and then he returned the favour which is what we done for the rest of the session , and that one session was the most fun i had all day . epic.

tuesday open pit
noise testing says i am 106.5 , cant be mate i passed yesterday look at my sticker, oh go on then, bingo.
open pit is always a giggle to me, as you get fast riders down to mobile chicanes but no harm to me its all gravy.
now due to competing in the no limits racing i thought i better get the zx10 out for a bit of testing and data.filled the tank to the brim and headed out .done the whole tank until the fuel light came on , which was 26 laps but my times did not drop off and was consistant 44s. after a bit of rest i headed out again with the ten and again with a full tank , 27 laps this time and a bit quicker as i was down in the 42s, at this point i was happy with my lot and ready to pack up and go home but the boys pushed me into taking the sd back out . i went out for a couple of 20min sessions and just mucked about.

4 o'clock loaded up

thanks to everyone who was playing and sorry to anyone who i made jump when i appeared beside them at hall or hairpin or barn or coppice etc......

It was great to see the old guys again, along with fresh faces to the SD clan. I was looking forward to seeming my ex beautiful pristine SDR, but Clincky decided to play the hospital card. Probably embarrassed to show his face after the right rogering and high sides he's given her, poor poor little girl.

Loving the Ronin & Ginger pics, always suspected it to be so.

And Superdan playing the V4 power card to overhaul an SD on the straights, I like it

Wrist wasn't broken in the end, still pretty sore though. Foot is broken, but they didn't put me in a cast so I'm hobbling about on it.
Had to sit on the sidelines on Friday watching my mates and Maria do Mallory. Was so frustrating!

Need to shrink the file size ..... At the moment it's about three to four gigabytes as the pictures are all off Lydia's fancy SLR so each pic is huge..... If I could degrade there quality somehow and upload them all people could then browse the lot and if they find ones they want I can send the originals......

It's taken all evening (6hrs) to upload those 150.......

I have managed to upload the entire Fest to photobucket ......all 678 ish of them with about 150 high def duplicates..... browse at will, if you see one that you particularly want but its not the best quality i will have a look and see i there is a better one but i aint Peter Wileman so don't expect discs sent out left right and centre unless you want to pay the wileman prices
