Race report is up from the last round.

Started as very good meeting and ended in a bit of a crappy one. The bike is getting very close on setup now. But stilltthere's somethins not quite nailed. Maybe it's just the bike and the way it is. I'm almost having to over ride it to stay with the leaders where as these guys are planted. There as still some small issues with rear side grip also. Miles better than before but it's something I'd like to get dialed out a bit more.

On board vid is from race 3..

Race 3 video with silly crash is here

I forgot to edit it so the two warmup laps are still in. Race start is about 5min 15ish.

At 7.30, on the exit of the last corner. That is the side grip problem i keep going on about. It wont hook up and bite in the meaty part of exits which is where i'm losing my time. The bike is now very good. Handling and set up is the best its ever been, but there is something missing i havent quite nailed yet. It does that alot but coz the cam is mounted under the mask and the bike is rotating around it, it doesnt show in the vids very well. The only issue with it is i need more side grip from the rear. The move to Dunlops have helped alot. Moving to these tyres and finding a new setup on them has taken me from challenging for 3-4th places to being up there battling for wins and fastest laps. There my still be some setup time needed with the tyres, and the rep is sending me different compound for the next two round to try out.
That might be the final tweak it needs..........................or as i said in the web update. It may be time to either sell everything i own and get JHS to build me the shock and machine the cartridges for the forks.

Its on its second revalve. And now the carbon wheels are on its destroyed the bike i had spent so long getting data on. The issue now i i have to run a much different wheelbase, which changes all the spring and preload info. But also, the carbon wheels are so light they move the suspension up and down faster, so the valving isnt working correctly anymore which means revalve number 3!!

It's hard work. And being honest its getting tiring. None of the GSXR or 675 boys are having to work as hard as this with setup to get the bike working. After following them all weekend from 2" behind i can see how planted thie bikes are and how strong they are in certain areas. It's not alot, in fact it's hardly anything. But 0.2 on every exit is hard to pull back on the brakes and it adds up over every lap and over race distance. There is a great bike in the Superduke somewhere. It's so close. But its such a weird machine. Some basic setup trick make bugger all difference to it, then a small 2-3mm change somewhere else that should make no real difference totally transforms it. JHS have described it as one of the most finneky bike they've ever worked with, and it takes a certain roder and riding style to match up with it to ge the best out of it. But once all the stars align it can be a capable tool

next port of call is more set up time on the dunlops and some different compounds while i save for yet another revalve. If that doesnt work then it's going to have to get the cartriges machined and one off shock built. If it comes to that as much as i dont want it to be this way, i might have to seriously thing about just breaking the bike and buying a 600.

Yes,

I did notice how much it was moving about...

I also noticed that you actually had the edge after the first backmarker and could have held on through coppice bfore doing the others i rekon.... Obviously hindsight is a wonderful tool.

Some very good riding there fella.

easy to say from the armchair though mate. When your having to over ride an old SD to stay with a rider likle Adams on his Ohlins shod GSXR you have to take eveery opertunity.

Watching it back i would have made the same move again. My mistake was i dodnt get it back left and push the backmarkers. it was late on the brakes, but unfortunatley way offline. If i'd have braked early Adam would have passed the lot of us.

Thats racing. If you dont take chances and push there's no point. Might be my downfall overall in the championship, but i'm not going to settle for a position. If there is a chance to pass, gain a position, or win you have to take it
