Hi guys,
Just traded my R1 for a SDR 10' and, so as not to miss one of the last trackdays of the season near home (Montmelo, Circuit de Catalunya). I'll be jumping into this trackday next friday with just a few kilometers on the bike (meaning, I'm new to the SDR and to the twin engine behaviour. Bike is used, in very good condiiton, some 29000km's and has all the usual mods except for full airbox (MH, Rotti, etc, which is on the way

Being really new to the SDR, I'd appreciate very much your feedback on,

- Ground clearance => I have the original footpegs/levers with the inverted gearshift kit => does it drag too much? Can I ride hard into turns with confidence without serious dragging? (as a reference, with my previous sportbikes, I'm usually in the top 10 of the intermediate group at trackdays in Spain, so sth like intermediate level)

- Gearing => My SDR has a 40T rear sprocket. Guess this gearing will be short for Montmeló, but have no 39T or 38T to chance. Do you think it'll be way too short or just a little short??

- Cornering => on the road I really enjoy the solid front end and steering. Does it still hold so good while cornering very hard on the track? Any special recommendations on setup? (tyres will be road tyres (Bridgestone, don't recall the actual model but it's the top of the line road/sport tyre)

Out of curiosity, anticipating that I'll be loosing quite some ground on the straights to the sportsbikes, how much off my usual pace can I expect to be on the SDR?

Many thanks in advance!

If you're on 16 / 40 gearing at Montmelo, I think you'll find it's way too short.

Assuming you carry decent speed through the final corner, you'll be on the rev limiter in 6th way before your braking marker.

I had a similar problem last year at Almeria, the back straight there is maybe 200m shorter than Montmelo.

Many thanks for your inputs,
Only goal for this trackday is getting to know the bike well, adapting myself to the different riding position and above all having fun.

Do you go back to the standard 16/38 gearing for most tracks? ( ... guess on one side could be much better but some corner exit might be lost)

Thanks again!
