Ups and downs on two track days

In the beginning all looked well added some fuel, and wait for entering the track.
On the track first heat the gsxr feels like ever.
Testing the brakes and getting the heat in the tyre. Every thing fine.
Rolling out after 20 minutes back to the paddock, switched the bike off and ...... pfffffffffffffffft.

Hm,

in my fairing which has hit the radiator.

Ok we changed the radiator from my friends spare gsxr and I'm ready for the second heat.

Out in a bent during braking the handlebars snapped inside the corner which was very unusual.

Back in the paddock the fork shows oil leakage and after disassembling the fork, the lock-ring shows a small split.

Finish the track days ?

No, we changed back the cooling unit to the spare gsx-r of my friend and I hade some (slow) fun during the rest of the day.

But what should I do next day
Crashing my friends gsxr is not an alternative.

This cost me up to 4 ours driving home and back to Nürburgring GP.
I missed the barbecue and the beers. What a high charge.

Saturday morning,
Oh no rain (not much) but on slick or on road tyres ( Corsa III) as on my SD no chance for quick riding.
But next alternative , hehe

Second heat of the day it is getting dry and time for the first track ride on the SD.
Current configuration as it comes from the dealer with Corsa III tyres, I set the pressure down to 2,0 bar front 1,9 bar rear and tried to set the suspension set-up as in the manual shown for sport.

What should I say !!!!

Different riding to a four cylinder four stroke but, the torque from lower rpm is amazing, gives you good confidence during acceleration out of the corners. The rear is a little bit stiff ( first thought was, it comes from the "soft" feeling seat bench) and I decided to set the decompression on the rear to open by two additional clicks. Later on one other click. The front set-up in the manual is in my opinion a good suggestion. But the Nürburgring is not very bumpy ( Formula1 race-track), so the adjustment could be different. I made my decision from the feeling and the tyre picture. (picture will follow)
Brakes: Wow !!
This Radial Brembos, you get first used to it, even with standard brake pads, they are unbelievable.
Braking down the home straight needs to find new braking point despite form the braking point of the gsxr.
Braking into the bent the front goes a little wide, but nothing serious, could be down on the road tyres.

In a nut-shell the bike is a good choice for riding on a track, even with the relaxing wide handle bar and the up ride riding position, which gives a good feeling for the front. No bitchy back-end on acceleration.

Great report. Lots to overcome - glad you stuck with it. Sounds like it ended well. I hope you got some beers after the second day!
