Just got finished with a day long BMW Performance Driving School at Virginia Internaional Raceway. What a fecking blast! From 8:30 am to 5:00 pm we drove the wheels off Beemer M3 and M6s. I managed 155 indicated in an M6 on the back straight; crap, the car was more flying than rolling at that speed.

Never had so much fun in my life; I can definitely say that 25 years of riding motorcycles was a definite help. If anyone has the chance to do this, I highly recommend it. Anyone in the states who has a chance to come to VIR should do it; it's considered the most technical track in the country with combination of turns, elevation changes, and high speed esses. There is even an exact GPS duplicate of the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca ( I late braked my instructor in an M3 at the end of the straight and still managed to make a beautiful pass through the corkscrew ).

I came away with a completely new appreciation for BMW the car. I'd never own one; after this experience I'd get a ticket at every corner, not to mention I could never afford one - the M6 V10 540hp 2dr sedan is 110000 USD.

I should get the DVD with the incar footage in a few weeks; I'll edit it down and post a link to it. Should be a riot to see a total rookie like me manhandle a fine German car around a racetrack; should give all the real racers a lot to laugh about
