Great write up. I have been waiting on this. I am going to be doing my first track day on my SDR soon and I also have a ZX10R and will love to see the difference.

I wonder if the oil thing is normal? I haven't ridden mine very hard yet and I hope it doesn't burn oil like that at the track. I'll let you know if mine does.

That sounds about right with the oil...

They start to use a bit when the revs don't drop below 6000 for 200km. Mine does the same at the track. But barely uses any between services otherwise.

SD's rock at tight technical tracks. Like you say it can't keep up with the I4 1000s on the long straights... 600's aren't a problem, but it's so much fun riding around the 1000s two corners after the straights anyway. I wouldn't change a thing.

Might just be the riders.... but I LOVE passing blades, gixxers, r1s and zx10s.

I just finished my second track day on my SD.

I have the same problem as Ratemut, ground clearance.
I never tried to ride with standard foot pegs, i fitted PP Tuning rear sets right after i bought the bike.

On my first track day i had problems running the rearsets and the exhaust headers in the ground. Some adjustment on the rearsets, and improvement of the hang-out technic, removed the problem with the rearsets. I still have problems with the exhaust, but it is getting better.

On Lausitz there is a few quick left right combinations. When the combination is left right, and i have to accellerate 'heavy' out of the right, then i get problems with the exhaust. Lausitz is also a bit 'bumpy' i these combinations, the exhaust is not dragging all the way thru the curve, it is only touching sometimes. I even scratched my right engine cover......
Maybe i should adjust the high speed compression on the rear shock a little........

On Lausitz i was steady around 2:00 (but not under....DAMNED), a little slower than the R6, but i am more than satisfied.

Again, when i manage to perfect the hang-out, i am sure that there is much more in the SD. Brakes are absolutely perfect, and easy to controle (progressively) in the corners. My tyre wear looks perfect as well, gives me an idea that setup and tyre pressure is OK.

Next track event (3 days) is Assen i a few weeks (never been there before).

@Ratemut: There was 6 SD's (one of them SDR) on Lausitz this weekend....... . I was the only SD in the fast group.
