I would be curious how you assess the SD at T-Hill. The first time I rode there, which also happened to be my first track experience, I couldn't wind out 5th even if I pulled out with a good turn 15. Made about 125/indicated if I rolled off about 30 feet after the start/finish line. I went to a 520 chain and 16/40 and found myself shifting a bit more and getting into 6th on the straight. Speedo indicated 140 or so, I think. I got out of 15 well and passed a hell of a lot of people. They catch me by the start/finish but chicken out before turn 1 by early breaking. With the confidence of the SD I could just roll off, downshift 1 gear and toss her into turn 1. Problem was that I wasn't just lifting the wheel at 5 and 9 but damn near felt like I could flip it over backwards. After reading GoGo's gearing here, I wondered about other guys experiences. GoGo obviously pushes the bike waaay harder than I do but last time I saw him at Infineon, I would swear that he had 16/40 as well. I am going to keep the gearing for the last two race weekends but will have a change of gear and chain for the wide open tracks like T-Hill and B-Willow.
By the way, are you Bay Area SD guys coming to the AFM races in Aug/Sept.? I will only be practicing/racing Saturday in Clubman in Aug. but hope I can make times to do Sunday in Sept. Come on by and say Hello!
Cheers!
