Ok! you folks!

Seems this forum is full of RC8 threads.

Does anyone have a Duke 111. Having owned 4 Dukes and 2 Superdukes over the past 10years. I am at the moment bikeless.(for the past 6 months)

However. I need to rectify that and was wondering if anyone had experience of the Duke 111?

I love KTMs and all that they stand for.

Being an original Superduke owner and Forum member. You guys should know?

Just quietly - I bought one of the first ones in our country on Saturday

Can't give you much info at the moment as I have not yet picked it up but I hope to get in a few miles this weekend....

Aye Aye Cap'n:wink:

Having not even sat on one I cannot comment on the seat. However I used to ride my Dukes practically on the tank, (Loading the front end.) so we'll see.
The SMC is a No No, for me. Too much of a weekend toy IMHO.

Was wondering if their were any fuelling issues. My Duke 1 and my first 2005 SD. were prone to these, on launch.
Was hoping that with the new Duke. We weren't being used as the last stage of development.

Yes the Duke3 is a great little bike. Great engine, no vibes excellente handling and light.

I wouldn't mind having one next to my SD, but not instead my SD

But for those who commute long distances and inside city traffic ( I only do 15km's each way and little traffic) it may be easier to go around with a duke3.

With less expensive services, better millage it's a more reasonnable bike to have for daily use...

But for now I don't want reason, I did that with the VFR and got bored after 20.000km's ehehe

Well, I've just returned from the dealers with the Duke III, its a fun bike but lacks the punch I thought it would have in lower gears. Thats not to say its slow....it just doesnt feel fast. I've been running it aroud the local lanes and it steers SO fast and light....I'm used to a bit more weight turning in and this has dropped into some corners so fast I thought i was gonna HIT the bushes on the apex! Once i got used ot it, it got more fun and felt faster, but in any gear above 3rd it's a bit of a drag. Defintely a town blaster or lane hack! Avoid motorways and long trips....the seat height is nice, but my knees are a bit tired right now. It looks great and sounds nice but I'd never run on with standard cans, this thing needs to breathe and bark!!

I'm looking forward to going out on it again after lunch and then returning it. I suspect my SD is gonna feel like a rocket after this thing though. Next time, it's GOT to be a 990SM!! Best of both worlds, surely?

Whiel i was there, they had the Battle series SDR in the yard, check my other post for pix.

I thought the 950 was out of production now? They had a 990SM there for a new customer....so I couldnt change my mind.

Hey, Fakujak - this thread would be MUCH better with some pictures of the thin white akra'd duke. I, too, am an ex Duke II believer on an SD. I am. however, waiting a few months to find a "bored" owner of a 690 Duke here in the US. I'm thinking about $6500 will put one in the shed next to the SD next spring.....

Its a wicked combo... I commute every day on the Duke and its the master of traffic and it loves the tight twisties in the weekends... It doesn't like chasing sportbikes through open sweepers though and don't let anyone tell you its fine... I chased my regular Ducati crew up a local road which only has one really tight section of a couple of kilometers and i had the little Duke pinned the whole way 150-170km/hr... Could'nt hold on to them and by the time we got to the tight bit they were out of sight. At that pace its a lively ride! Didn't feel like I would lose it at any stage but as its such a light bike it does respond to all the little bumps in a much different way to the SDR. The great thing is if I want to terrorise the boys at the front I just turn up on the SDR - and they never know what I am going to bring On our roads the SDR is a weapon that can hang with most at my ability and some that are better [ie it makes me look a bit better than I actually am]. So composed in the corners and proper quick coming out of them...

The Duke gets lots of road time because its such fun... I am always popping wheelies and stoppying the lights just for the hell of it - cos you can. An get it in the tight stuff and you can carry more corner speed than any of the bigger bikes its so light and grunty. I am loving the BT-016 tyres.

I am seriously thinking of chopping in My Duke III I have had nothing but bother with it since fitting the Akro system. And nothing has been resolved as yet.
I've had the bike just over 4 months and it has been in the dealers for over 2 of those months.

Great bike as standard. But KTM haven't got it sussed when tuning. Using their supplied parts.

Once my Duke III is fine(It will be!) I will be enquiring.

I sold my Duke III to get my SD. A worthy sacrifice I think.
