Well as the title suggests i sold my sd and bought an 08 registered 690sm
After a couple of hundred miles i did notice that the engine was extremelly noisy when warm and somehow the neutral light came on only in second
I returned the bike under warranty to be looked at and they stripped the clutch and replaced the bearing and fixed the neutral light
couldnt find anything else wrong with the bike despite me having had a couple of issues with it seeming to lose drive in long righthanders
on about three occasions
on the first occasion i assumed i may of caught the clutch but definetly not on the two following occasions
I got the bike back with a clean bill of health and rode home only to find it was still really noisy when warm
I took the bike back to the dealer and they started another 690 duke up to listen to to compare
The long and the short of it is that the other bike sounded similar but still quieter than mine so i said i would use the biike for a while to see if it was ok
I returned home on the bike and put it away for the next couple of days and then got a call to say the manuals had come into stock for the bike so popped over to collect them on the bike i arrived collected the books and left on the bike only to lose 1st 3rd and 5th gear as i left the carpark
I gave the bike back to them and told them i dohad lost faith in the bike and did they have any replacements for me to consider
I then took an aprilia tuono out for a spin and a ktm 990 adventure and ktm 950smr,THE SMR SHOULD BE MADE ILLEGAL COS IT IS AWESOMEAND WILL BE LIVING IN MY GARAGE VERY SOON
