my bike was registered in 07 but is an 05-06 model so i have the smaller tank.

I've just bought a new 06 black tank (mine's orange and this tank was cheaper than to get mine sprayed ).
thinking this would be a direct replacement i have just discovered that the low fuel sensor are different.

is their a modification i can do to the wiring?
or can i use my fuel pump (on orange tank) as a direct replacement onto my new black tank (06 one)

old current tank

The 05/06 pump will work but you have to spin it 180 degrees if memory serves to get the tank to fit on the bike. It's a tight fit but should work ok.

Ok cool will try that.

I was reading somewhere that there maybe a loom adapter or something?

Yes, you need to turn pump 180, I also got a longer length of fuel line to make the return radius less tight.... no need for different loom

Why not just use the pump that's still installed in it?

Is there 2 plus from your original pump? 1 for sensor, 1 for pump?

Only asking as on my 06 I've got an 07 tank on and the fitted sensor goes to a plug just under the one for the pump. I'm sure there wasn't a sensor fitted to the original tank

No mate just one plug for pump.

Trying to find a way to wire in the new level sensor. But if I can't I'll just turn my old pump 180

On that can someone take a pic of how the level sensor connected next to fuse box

There wasn't a separate fuel level sensor on the 05 tank? I was sure they had one, it's just different to the 07.

It's ok I ordered 1mtr of 7,5x13,5mm pipe with a new 8mm connector.

This is where things get confusing

As my 07 plate had the Orange tank (without separate sensor) and it seems this is an 05 tank

The black one (with separate sensor) seems to be an 06

This is not set it stone but with everything I've read it seem to be the case.

Now surely both 05/06 have the same loom or a way to splice the separate sensor on the new (to me) black tank.

I've got the new fuel line but really want to use the new sensor and do the job right.

Does anyone have an 05 wiring diagram and a 06 so I could compare

Many thanks

If you are going to use the old pump there is no need to wire the separate sensor.

The 05 and 06 pumps are the sameand was a direct fit (didn't need to turn or anything) just the 05 has a level sensor.

Job done thanks for the help/advice

Good to hear you got it sorted.......... I think some of us have got confused with this.... not reading the thread properly ..... I thought you had swopped to the bigger tank but they are 07

Yeah I think so.

Only difference was the fuel pump. Old one having a level sensor built in the other not.

I do want a 07 tank but becoming hard to find a nice one. Or at a reasonable price
