Comrade: I'll fess up that this has happened to me a few times when I've been pushing the bike around the shed. Of course, pushing a bike puts one's hand very close to the kill switch...
I also notice that you are looking for tank side panels. Does that suggest that you have recently kissed the black stuff? If so, perhaps the roll over sensor is stuck.

Oh my goodness you are completely correct I just picked this bike up as a project I have orange blood so it seems logical picked it up down in Vegas Crash bike. So explain this rollover sensor where is it? Can I reset or do I need to buy a new one .

Search roll over switch - lot's of info on here - is the headlamp unit in normal position or tilted forward for access?

Comrade: Umm well if it's been crashed that opens up a whole lot of possibilities including the clutch sensor, neutral sensor and roll over plus wiring Etc. 990's do have a roll over sensor and it's in the headlight shell. Thinking about it I can't quite remember whether it actually stops turnover or whether it just stops ignition... It can just be disconnected temporarily if it's not working as it should... BUT before doing any dismantling I'd be inclined to just have a look at the other things and testing with a multi-meter just to check for supply voltage Etc at the starter relay.

Are you sure that its not one long and five short blinks, ie code for 15, which indicates a rollover sensor problem - afaik, there is no 05 error code ie five short blinks only.

Bingo , you got it!!!! So I ordered a new one I can’t figure out where it mounts inside the headlight proceed to post but they don’t match up to the rollover sensor I got i.e. from Ktm twins. I plug it in and it kills the bike I unplug it and the bike runs I’m assuming it’s because I’m holding it in my hand and it’s not mounted on the bike. So close to having a fun bike to ride. Just a bit faster than my Adventure 1190.

Thanks everybody, couldn’t figure out the exact mounting place for the rollover sensor so I found a position it liked and mounted it. FI light is out and bike is running like a champion. It’s going to willow springs (streets) with us next month I’ll post a photo. Those track photographers can make anybody look good.
