I am looking for a frame side lift stand for my 1290, so far I have found Bursig, Spider, Constands, Biketower etc
Motomfg dont seem to be making them for the 1290? (I have read the 2 other posts on here)

After some reviews, advice etc & best place to buy them, found a few sites but some dont seem to ship to Australia

Anyone happen to have one they want to sell (in Australia)?

I thought about buying this type of lift then decided against it, I don`t like the idea of 190kg of shear weight being transferred to only a couple of points on the bike.

I would be more concerned with the lifting pins on the lift stand being the weak point rather than the bike frame. The bike frame mounting points are well supported by the frame rails being in compression when lifted so a frame sheer failure is unlikely. The lift points on the bike frame are also cast then the CM tube is fitted and welded to the cast piece - its as strong as sh1t at this point.
Whenever i have my bike on my stand for a long period of time I always mount the support jack on the other side to the bike lift to guarantee it stays there; Not because of bike frame failure but because of the load on the lifting pins on the bike lift. I do this even after doing the sheer failure numbers on the lifting pins - go figure
Oops off topic - sorry mate.

Both good points, something to think about, that is quite a bit of weight to lift from one centralised point in the frame

I am want to finally get around to finally fitting the speedo correction rings I figured a frame lift would be better than a front & rear paddock stand, I dont think using a typical rear paddock stand will let me do whats needed to replace the rear ABS ring & the front paddock stands will lift it too high to simply remove the axle & replace the rings, I would need to chock the wheel up to replace the rings easier
I wont be storing my bike on the lift, It would only be used for brake & tyre changes etc
mmmm, not sure which way to go?

just buy the best quality stand you can find - for stuff like this I wouldn't buy a Chinese copy of the EU lifts.
I do understand the difficulty of finding a good second hand one in Oz - maybe another member from overseas can buy it and send it to you!
I think Bursig would be my pick if I didn't design and build one.
good luck

I use a self made centre stand with a headstock stand, stable and secure.

mmmmm Aussie ingenuity!
Well thats a bit of a game changer, I never knew the swingarm pivot was hollow, I know most bikes these days do have a hollow pivot bolt but never thought to check the 1290
That would be a very strong & stable way to lift the rear & with a headstock stand at the front it will work out great, the genuine KTM front stand ( 69329965000 ) with the required 19mm pin ( 69329965030 ) can also be used on my partners 390 Duke so thats a bonus

I might try & find a good quality front (19mm pin) headstock stand (cheaper than the genuine KTM but not too cheap!) & build a matching rear stand out of round tube

Has anyone had any trouble using some of the other front lifts like Kaneg, Torpedo7 & Andersons steering head lifters?
They are all available with a 19mm pin but the 1290 headlight sits down below the lower triple clamp height a bit, thinking some stands may get in the way of the headlight?

As you can see the genuine KTM stand ( 69329965000 ) listed to suit the 1290 has a short stem where the pin meets the lower triple clamp, this might limit my options to genuine only?>

The one stand you did not mention is made by ABBA and is called the skylift. A little pricey but you can lift the bike 3 different ways and it uses the swingarm pivot as
its pickup point. The stand will allow you to lift just the front wheel (perfect for a coolant change), just the rear wheel or both wheels off the ground by over 2 feet or more.
Do a search for ABBA Skylift and check out the videos.

My 1290 sits on the Bursig stand all the time, for months on end during the winter - no dramas whatsoever

Anderson Headstock stand

lc4, does the Anderson stand have a real short stem on it where it goes into the lower triple clamp? cant see the front of it?
From the pics I have seen the Anderson head stock lifts would be about the only ones that would work without hitting the headlight

Got a bundle of steel this morning, just finished another project for the missus so I might get time to roughly fab up the swingarm pivot stand soon
I bought a cheap paddock stand years ago for a 750 Ninja I had & the mounts etc were all wonky, took some stuffing around with the seller but they sent me a replacement to fix it, I almost threw these pieces out a few times but I kept them for some reason, the wheels etc are fine but the holes where the hooks went were of a few degrees, I will modify these & add some square tube uprights with tight fit tube inside to adjust the height, just need to join the 2 sides together & add a handle that will lay down on the floor out of the way, should be a very tidy setup when I am finished

The handle will be a bit more like this which will add much more stability, having the handle on the left side on the floor out of the way would be a bonus too>
