the second ones are not available.
I order them with my new bike and i hadn't any certain update for the delivery so i chose Evotech's crash protectors.

Also, the issue about the availability was descussed in another thread here.

Have you seen GSG Mototechnik's sliders? Best looking ones available, in my opinion.

Those do look nice.
Where did you order them?

I wonder when the PowerParts ones will be available, I really like them.

Tip: Try googling the name of a product someone suggests to you. http://www.gsg-mototechnik.de/

Its seems its a German company and most websites end in .de, so I was simply wondering where he got it from, was it local or not.

But thanks for for the tip on how to use the internet

I can tell you (from experience) that all these sliders are useless and gimmicks!

When I crashed the bike only slid down the road for a short bit and then over compacted earth on the side of the road.
The engine cover was completely obliterated and leaked at several places. It's weakness also did possible damage to the clutch.
It is the engine covers that need protecting, not higher up!

Thanks for your input.

Any chance you have post crash pics?

Would this have saved you?

Hi!

I've been looking the market for some frame sliders for my sd1290 and I've seen some interesting options

Powerparts ones -> not available and looks like it never will be...bad luck because were my favourite.
Evotech-performace -> Good look and looks like protective with good finish but too expensive in my opinion, about 310€/350$.
R&G -> Cheap but not usable for tall boys like me even in the long option for long legs these are not usable because of contacts with legs.
GSG-> good look, looks like protective but expensive 375$ and not sure about how is it with long legs
SATO-> too expensive and not find any dealer in europe

and...a new option I've seen recently and for a good price (130€ aprox) are PUIG which i'm not sure but I think are usable for long legs like me :

Just say I'm 1,91m and that I've installed, fork protectors (from PP) , carbon covers in both hands (from PP) , swingarm bolt cover (from PP) and now I'm looking for frame sliders
I need your opinion guys!!

Regarding the Puig frame sliders and leg contact.
I just installed a pair of these. I am 6' 1" (185cm) and have found that they do not interfere with my legs while riding except for an occasional brush when putting a foot down at a stop. This was easily solved by modifying my leg position slightly when putting a foot down.

I wish the rubber end pads were black instead of grey. The attachment of the pads to the main body of the slider is a bit sketchy also, its a friction fit held on by three flimsy rubber tabs.
The grey pad is made of some sort of soft rubber material which would last no longer then a pencil eraser once contact with pavement were made. I have a feeling these would be a one time use item if you put the bike down on them, but them perhaps they all are.
I am happy with them for the price but you can tell they were built to a price point.

I went with Evotech. And after receiving them and installing them the saying you get what you pay for holds true. They are very nicely made and are mega beefy. And are way forward so no knee clearance issues. Get them, you wont be disappointed.

I had a lowside at a local track a while back, sliding about 30 meters. The damage was mostly the clutch cover, right side faring, pegs and bar end.

Here's a few pics.

Evotech sliders look like they stick out far enough to save the side and tank. Ots another reason why I like them. I dont want to find out though i think im gonna get engine case sliders as well.

That clutch cover takes an absolute hammering when it goes over that side! That is where on mine there was so much damage too as the clutch itself got damaged too.
Only thing saving that is actually a slider on the cover itself. Not so keen on most frame sliders I saw so far, most wouldn't help much in my opinion.

So if im gonna choose which sliders to buy first, it would be in this order? Frame sliders, axle sliders, clutch side case slider?

The pictures i posted in the above post where from last year. Since then i bought case sliders and front axle sliders. No point in getting anything else. Also the right side faring worked better as a frame slider than any frame slider i have seen so far, regardless of bike, and they cost the same to replace too. =)

I'm relatively certain that Motohooligan will be releasing his own frame sliders for the 1290 at some point.

He's already got a clutch cover with a replaceable Delrin slider, for those who haven't seen it: Image

Going by the dent in the lower frame diagonal, the oil cooler has been damaged by something other than the slider.

ktmguy

ktmguy

The frame sliders are the ones from mototechnik, you know that, right? Because the dent in the cooler reminds me to the back shape of this sliders... I may be wrong though
