Let see if we can generate some traffic in this forum.

I just had the first service done on the 1290. The owners manual says the next oil change is at 9300 miles. That seems insane to me.
Do you guys change oil/filter/screens every 5k miles or so or do you go by the manual?

I’ve been doing changes at roughly 9300, including new filter and cleaning screens if needed for over 85K miles now.
Bike still runs like new if not better than new. If you’re using good oil and not riding in dusty environments, 9300 mile change intervals are just fine. Anything more frequent is a waste of oil. My 2 cents...

I’ll probably end up doing an oil change annually, a winter job to fettle it and bond with the bike (and it’ll hopefully be easier than the 990; no wiring harness or other hardware routed directly beneath a drain point). You can’t change the oil too regularly, but the extended intervals mean it’s no sweat if the interim mileage is higher than you’re normally racking up...
