15 Minute Reset question

Hey guys, been searching for about 15 minutes but cant find a straight answer,

Does the bike have to be completely cold for the 15 min reset it to work accurately?
I live inner city & if i try and idle my bike with open Yoshi cans for 15 minutes, someone is going to come and scream at me for certain.
So i want to ride out to a mates place and do the TuneECU thing there, but also dont want to have to wait hours for the thing to cool completely.

Cheers

Hi, no the engine doesn't have to be cold. What it does is reset the basic parameters of some of the sensors, it takes about 15 min and you can actually hear it when the ECU resets.
Just don't touch the throttle, that is one of the conditions to keep the reset sequence running.
Have fun!

Good questions on this.

I have done the 15 min thing . I just set up two big fans to keep the heat down. Would be nice to know if its not neccesary.

So i did the re-map, Makes the old girl a lot less explosive down low & more manageable in traffic.
Did the 15 min reset, but honestly wouldnt know if it made any difference. the fans kicked in at about 10mins but other than that, the bike didnt make any other noise.

Now to block off the SAS & stop that backfiring on ovverrun. jeeesus!

I've had my OEM map reset three time last year at the Stealer (long story) and each time they left the bike running for the fifteen mins. This wasnt about TuneECU either.

I asked the same question with the guy that remapped mine, he said if the O2 sensors are removed there is no point in doing it as there is nothing for the ecu to learn from,
