I've got a overheating issue that I have not been able to find mentioned previously - or just haven't searched diligently enough. Bike is a 2008 standard Superduke. I have the SAS delete, Leo Vinces, Tuneecu.
Two weeks ago after a 15 mile run on the highway the dashboard gave me an overheating warning. I pulled over and the bike had indeed puked a little green blood. I limped home as the bike seemed to cool down in 5 minutes I rode another mile or so and the temp came up to all bars again. I stopped waited and repeated until I got home. I figured that the thermostat had frozen in the closed position. The radiator cap did not vent and only bits of coolant dripped out, forcing its way past the clamps especially near the thermostat.
I ordered a new thermostat, radiator cap and Samco hoses. Replaced all but three of the hoses, the coolant and the thermostat. I did my best to slowly fill and burp the system. I ran the bike up to temp several times at idle enough for the fan to kick in and bring the temp back down.
I figured all was well but this AM I got 2-3 miles down the road and the bike overheated again. When I popped the radiator cap and my riding buddy and I tried to see what if anything might be going on we noted that the bike would bubble after 20-30 seconds - as if the was a hot spot or the air was being introduced to the system.
My guess is that I may have a head gasket issue. Any other thoughts or experiences?
Thanks
Aphex

Did you check the water pump? I gather the pump impeller, water pump seal & shaft could fail. There's kits available on ktmtwins.com and cheapcycleparts.com
There's a good writeup on how to R&R on ktm950.info
Please continue to post as you triage this.

I had the shaft replaced about 12,000 miles ago with the upgraded CJ one. Impeller I have not yet checked. The coolant was relatively cool to the touch, or at least did not burn fingers within a minute of the bubbling effect.
I'll pull the water pump cover and see if the impeller is doing its bit.
The bike has been running a bit rougher before this overheating issue started.
