So all you 990 old-timers.

My '07 Superduke has developed a slight oil leak. When I park it up for a few days there is a small puddle of oil collected at the base of the side stand. It's hardly that much but I noticed it the other week and cleaned it all up but it's back a week later. It seems to kind of drip onto the side stand but during prolonged riding seems to also coat the gear change links.

I've cleaned the components off three times now but after a 150 mile ride the side stand and gear change are covered in a thin layer of oil. It's not coming from the chain, that I'm sure of, it's the wrong kind of oil.

I haven't yet stripped anything down to explore further but I just can't see where it's coming from. The only thing that has been done to the bike in the last few months is a top end service by Fowlers to do the valve shims so the top end has been off - but I can't see any leaks coming from that area.

Any ideas for the likely cause? Where should I look first?

Bic,my bike did exactly the same thing and it was the clutch push rod seal. There is also the oring on the gear sensor thingy and the gear shaft seal.It should'nt be the counter shaft seal but worth a check.I was going through some old decals today and you would'nt believe what I came across. Some orange rim stickers I obviuosly bought in a weak moment of my life.Had a giggle, thought of you Bic and quickly through then in the bin.Cheers
