990 SDR quickshifter fitting problem

Hi all, trying to fit a translogic qs that I bought from Fuel. Redline were going to pop this on for me today whilst servicing. They've been unable to do so as the ignition connectors are incorrect for my bike apparently? I'd have thought all 990 superdukes had the same plug regardless of R or standard? Mine has a strange look supposedly.

Anyone else come across this?

It's been documented before.
Some SDR have 3 wire Beru coils, different connectors.
Powercommanders with ignition don't fit neither.
It can be fixed by shopping for the correct plugs and get a decent electrician to swap them over.

Extra wire to full fat SDR three wire ignition coil is just earth so shouldn't be too complicated to resolve, but then electrics are complete mystery to me.

Personally I wouldn't cut any wires from original bike harness. Is better to spend more money, but be able to go back to standard at any stage for example due to an qs issue. On the road you are always able to disconnect it and re-connect harness connectors as they were. But this is my personal opinion and no need to follow http://cordona.net/shop.htm#spareparts go right to the bottom of the page, the ones you need are third and fourth counting from bottom, both called "DUC 749-1198 M waterproof connector", male and female. This is the connector used by Beru.

When you get connectors, cut original plugs from the translogic qs and replace.
If you decide to go for it, I can tell you what wire needs to be cut and brought through qs to allow shifting to work and which ones must be just passed through. Hope this help a little.

Top man! I'll take a look and let you know when I need help with the next steps!

I agree on not cutting the bike loom, I'd worry about that as well. I'd rather butcher the QS loom.

Those are standard Denso connectors, you can buy them elsewhere, also from the site I already referred to in previous post (two last connectors on that page, called COIL F/FM Connector Denso/Mitsubishi). Color won't matter. If you don't want to butcher qs harness, you need two sets of those as well.

Could you let us know what model of QS you have (not visible on attached photo) and post a photo of the control unit and the shifter? Isn't that the same stuff as DynoJet? I just purchased DynoJet unit for another bike, wondering if both are actually exactly same.

I can offer my help if you in West Midlands or near enough, if you will struggle at any stage.

Here's the control unit. Will send the link to the plugs to Translogic.

I may well take you up on your help offer! Really should get this sorted as I've booked loads of trackdays now!

Not a problem
Did they make wiring loom for you?

Have to say Translogic have been brilliant so far! Sent them some info last night and they've come back with a loom suggestion today and it's now in the post. Top notch service especially considering I bought the QS 2nd hand so they've only had £30 from me for an alternative harness.

Fitted at the weekend and have to say this was a superb mod! Properly good and can't wait to try it at Oulton Park tomorrow!
