Brought home my 1290 yesterday. Had a tough time deciding between 1290 and an s1000r. Black 1290 popped up so I pulled the trigger. I went for a ride today and noticed a burning paint smell. Stopped and checked and found it was the rear disk, sizzling hot. Front was just warm as I had not been doing much braking. Turned bike off and restarted and off I went. Thought maybe it was me activating foot brake? Continued on my ride checking frequently. Got to my destination, all good, rotors just warm. Started back, again checking frequently. Just back in town I could feel the brake drag. Stopped and I could physically could feel the rear brake drag as I pushed, rear rotor very hot. Turned bike off and restarted, all good for the rest of the day. Have approx. 150 km on bike now. Front rotors look as new but you can tell rear got very hot. Will call dealership Tuesday.
