Akrapovic headers on 06 SD question

Hi all,

I've just got round to fitting a set of 08 SDR headers to my 06 bike and was wondering about the exhaust clamp. I didn't get the exhaust clamp in the sale and the bike is currently 'clampless' (the clamp that sits under the bike and supports the header to the frame, sort of bottom right of the bike!). Is it safe to ride without the clamp or will there be too much pressure on the headers? I've looked at the fiche for the SDR and theres a clamp available but it needs to be connected to another clamp that joins to the frame. Will my 06 have the needed holes to accommodate this clamp? Sorry if this is confusing but I don't want to spend more money on something I don't need!

Thanks

Steve

IIRC, the Akra headers don't require a clamp there.

+ 1

I just checked mine and there are no clamps on the header to engine at all. The header attaches to the engine and to the Y pipe behind the engine before the slip-ons.

Front header mid-pipe clamp is bolted to bracket that is bolted to engine, not frame - if '06 engine casing doesn't have provision for latter, you won't be able to fit it - if it does, it's there for a reason...................................
