Akrapovic replacement parts in the US

Bit of a rant, and an inquiry also.

It turns out, that while their N.A. headquarters are in nearby Irvine, CA - being able to obtain replacement parts in the US for Akrapovic systems is not something one should count on.

I am going on 3 months and counting for a simple end cap kit. Originally promised 5 weeks. Followed up on week 9, only to be told I would have it a week later. And here I am - still no parts. Run around by both Akrapovic and the vendor (they do not sell direct). Turns out, I'm not the only one who has been waiting months for parts from them.

As most of you know, replacement parts availability should always be considered in one's decision on any moto-related purchase. Particularly with items that occasionally need service or may be subject to damage in the event of a get-off. KTM has pretty much got their act in gear WRT to parts distribution here. As does Ducati. And Triumph. Sadly, Akrapovic falls in with the likes of Aprilia. The ancient european moto-parts legacy still haunts: Order the goods, pay a fortune, wait forever. Maybe you'll get the items, maybe you won't.

The folks in Irvine are friendly and helpful enough - no fault there. They are simply ignored by the factory on replacement parts orders and delivery. Want a full system? Want 50 of them? You can have 'em in the morning. Want some rivets and a strap - you'll be lucky if you ever see them.

I like the build quality, fit, appearance and performance - and you pay for these elements. But fook anything up on it, and you are screwed here. I've given up on buying a full Ti Akrapovich system for another bike, based on this experience.

I am not not seeking input on other brands to buy, etc. I am wondering however, what experiences others of you have had in obtaining Akrapovich replacement parts. I'm presuming its better in europe, but really have no clue.

I had a similar experience dealing with akropovic wheN I had my RC51 and I learned back then that it's almost better to totally destroy it and buy something new than wait for a part from them. It's a great product but when it comes to their parts, they just take the attitude 'like we'll get to it when we feel like it!'
I guess it's just part of the package. Personally for that reason I never put a akro pipe on any bike I get. Good luck getting it sorted!

Tis the reason I went with a Yoshi system,,,,DT assured me of fast replacement , if the need arises,,,,,I had thought that KTM Twins was a spares vendor for Akra cans

Have you tried KTM for replacement parts for the Powerparts Akras? Looked up a new carbon hanger bracket for my old 640 pipe and it's available. 102 F'n dollars but supposed to be available.

After my SD decided to roughly mount The Joker's SDR from behind I came across the Akra replacement option. One of his cans was shot. Trying to deal with Akrapovic direct isn't an option, everything has to go through KTM. KTM uk then said buying a single can wasn't an option and I'd have to buy both cans and Y-piece only after my dealer spoke to KTM Austria did they finally say I could buy a single can. Took weeks and weeks to sort. Poor Jocke was a model of the patient calm scandinavian.
