There's one around 4500rpm that seems to only happen when it's loaded up, i.e. with the clutch out but what I'm noticing lately is a higher rev range buzz from 7000rpm upward. The bike was a the dealer recently and i asked them what they thought. They seemed to think it might be the cam chain(s) getting old, after all the bikes done 60 000km.

Thoughts?

P.s. yeah i know, i know. Another bloody buzz thread.

60,000 kms is nothing as long as the bike has been serviced and looked after.I replaced my chains at 92,000 kms and they were not badly worn. The LC8 is one tough son of of a motor if it is ridden in the right environment. They are not built for commutting or lugging from traffic lights to the next traffic lights.A lot of the troubles your hear from this forum on issues with the 990 is with owners who unfortunately don't get to ride there bike that often and if they do,it is city riding to work and back.Thats when you here all about waterpump failures, bad oil consumption, leaky base gaskets, blown head gaskets, dead battery's and bugged rectifiers, failed fuel pump from clogged filters, noisy cam chains and the list goes on.This motor was originally designed for the Dakar Rally by a bloke KTM brought from Rotax.Super light weight short 75degree twin(hence the balances) quick reving v-twin which could handle the harsh desert outback environment.Iv'e done over 30 trackdays,122,000 kms and two days ago had it dynoed at 20 HP more from when it was 1000kms stock and no increase in oil consumption.I know the 1290 is a stonking motor but we will wait and see how long it performs for compared to the 990.Cheers

Ah well you see she's my daily. Ride to work, weekend squirts, groceries, trips to the Holy Island (Phillip). All weather, all the time.

Just had the reg/rec done this week actually.

Still looks hot as fook though.
