Anyone tried this Thermostat Switch?

Summer's here, and 37-40 Celsius are the norm...

Inside the city the bike is plain horrible.. It warms up at morning before I even get to wear my gloves (some fun that is..) and by the second red light it's already working with the fan while making my nuts into actual nuts.

Is it really helpful?
Is it going to murder my battery?

Cheers

Well, my bike is pretty much bone stock.

I was wondering lately if the stock exhaust might make it run hot and if perhaps changing the silencers and getting rid of the catalytic converter can make a difference as it seems logical to me. you reckon?

Thanks guys,

went on to read 47's link(s) and got more confused.

I now know that people actually replaced these lower temp thermostats. ok.

Now, understanding that there are other options other than that 50ish bucks from ktmtwins - are they all the same?
Is there one you'd recommend?

If so, I'll be happy to get a link to it, as reading through all those part# and such got me dizzy...

I'm more of a "this will fit? --> paypal --> mailman"

cheers..

SUZUKI : 17680 50 F1

ECHLIN : FS154
AC DELCO : A1854
STANDARD : TS306 <<<<<<< different brands and their part numbers
4 SEASONS : 36567
WELLS : SW1888

Since you live in Israel....
I'd find your nearest parts store...
I went to my local Napa autoparts and they crossed it to
the best most available option...
They did have to order it...
But I live in the U.S...
If not...Google it and see what you come up with...
For ease and less headaches...Just buy it from KTM Twins

Switch over to engine ice too, my bike runs way cooler on the blue than it does on the stock motorex radioactive green!

Have been asked to order a few more of these for some non-UK members.

The correct part no. for the Suzuki item is SUZUKI : 17680 50 F10 and not F1 as previously listed

I bought mine from here - http://www.ignitioncarparts.co.uk/PartL ... cp-EFS5282 - £23.06 incl. VAT and postage.

They added the Superduke to the list of vehicles as a result of my orders.

Ohhh Klinck.. You made me want mine to come even faster now!

What scares me is that it will murder the battery instantly.

BTW, must say 47 here is a great dude! Thanks mate!

I think Klink has an 06 and they only have 7or 8 bars not the 13 that are on the 07+ models. Hence 4 bars compared to 6. Having said that mine will sit around 4 to 5 if it's cold enough ie 0-10 DegC. Seeing Klinks in the UK and it's summer its entirely possible!

I fitted the thermostat and it was one of the best moves I made to reduce the temperature. The other key steps are to flush the radiator really well, the one other part I found is that the rubber flaps on the radiator shroud were blocked by cables thus they wouldnt open when on the move. I just went and removed them all entirley and havent looked back. The fan moves more than enough air on its own when stationary.

Since these mods I've only had one time where it went to 10 bars briefly and it was 42DegC in stop start traffic and lotsa slipping of the clutch.

Oh and dont worry about the fan being on more often. As long as you dont leave the bike on but not running the battery wont be a problem. It'll die sooner just from being in high temps.

Good to know.

Had half a day today in the reserves. The military base is located in the heart of one of Israel's best riding area's, about an hour ride from my home. Had to be there at 8AM so.. gave it some
It was fun.

Can't wait though to fit that thermoswitch...

95 on and 90 off.

SD/SDR/RC8/RC8R all appear to use the same switch according to the parts fiches.
