About 12 weeks ago I was stupid enough to come off my bike while riding
As I work away, some problems went undiagnosed and I had some poor advice from someone in the medical field.
So I've had to mothball the racing and also any dirt riding to make sure I can still work and earn a crust.
One of the people I spoke to, strongly reccomended the Asterisk knee brace.
At $700US, I was a little hesitant, but as rehab got on, I thought that I'll spend $$$$ on a helmet, why not my knees?
These things just look the business. I have prepped them and do the final fitment in the morning by affixing them to my boots. They stop the kee from hyper-extending and lateral moving, as well as the foot rotating too far out. I am a tall skinny lad, and most things don't fit me and as I first put these on, I feared that the "skinny leg" curse had got me. But they are fully adjustable, I had to wind them right in, but they fit perfectly.
I'll give a full review after I go for my first ride tomorrow.
I am curious as to who has used these before and what are the lurks and perks.
Does anyone have some advice for me?

I crashed my beloved SD at 110 mph head on against a full grown cow......cow died....sd crippled an I´m still slowly re-building it....I was ATGATT an had asterisk knee braces, the right side knee brace practically exploded at impact.....my right ankle an knee suffered hard, broken ankle, broken knee cap an torn ligaments, that was 4 months ago, toady I have little pain but I´m walking, had I not been wearing the asterisk, I would not have my leg an I firmly beleive that......impact was so hard....I alreay bought a new set of asterisk and I will always wear them....
take your time an adjust them well, you´ll only adjust them once

Advice ? Well if you take a girl home from the pub don't wear them to bed ... At least not in the first instance
Sorry to hear you've done that much damage.

Thanks Evilwerks, I haven't done anywhere near your damage!
I just work away so it was 8 weeks before they found out anything and 10 or so before I got proper treatment.
Unlucky as the SDR won the last round.
Hope you heal up well mate and good work on Adam444's Carbon site, I think he'll have an R section available soon.

those certainly look the part, mate! Orthosurgeons use less-cool looking braces all the time to protect their work and these look to have the same features plus the obvious impact protection. IMO, knee braces inherently don't work well against rotatory injuries because rotation occurs above/below the knee at the hip/ankle to cause resultant stress and injury at the knee joint....BUT the boot linkup seems to be a genius' attempt to control that aspect, bravo Asterisk.
Can't imagine a theoretically more comprehensive support system, yet

It was suggested by an Orthopeadic surgeon bike rider so I thought it worth it.
Thanks again for your advice mate and I hope your street bike is coming along nicely

I have a pair of these: they are an absolute life saver.
I am a new comer to enduro racing and I bought a pair after an injury to my knee sustained whilst wearing a good pair of knee protectors.
I've got to say I've crashed in them loads since including two of my biggest crashes ever off road last weekend and haven't suffered any leg injuries at all.
Additionally I believe they save you from those 'little' tweaks/injuries you get from catching your foot when cornering quickly - sooner or later when you're skimming your foot it catches and can try to bend your knee sideways - with the Asterisk you can feel it catch but it doesn't tweak your knee.
After reading the Cow story I have taken to wearing them on the road under my jeans and when I get a new set of leathers made I'll have them made to accommodate them.
In a word: essential.
