Just fitted new handle bars and as a previous post states I have issues with my throttle. I have just realised how dangerous the current throttle could be. I have been trying for an hour to get my idling to a reasonable setting by moving the cables around behind my headlight. On a few occasions the revs have picked up to over 5000 rpm just my shifting a cable 10mm up or down.
Surely this could be dangerous??? Will be taking the tank off to double check the cables are routed correctly.. for now can someone advise what my idling should be?? Mine has always been 2000 revs??? Is that right or should it be lower???

take your mask off and have no pressure whatsoever on the cables, then see what it idles at

Yip.. tried that... similar issue... road the bike to work today idling seems the have stabled (might just need to lub the cables a bit)... aroung 2000 rpm.. it that acceptable?

mine idles around 1550 rpm
cable routing is very sensitive as I learned when I installed a new handlebar, it took a little time to get it sorted

If I recall, mine is under 2k, I'd say 1,500 rpm. Sorry, I'm a big pussy and rode the Honda Ruckus into work.

1400 is I'm sure what they are supposed to idle at when up to temp.
When I put on my LSL bars I had to send the cable through the side of the headlight unit. Didn't have any real problems though.

Any suggestions how to get iding lower?? Is there a trick to it... or something I can check!

Check cable routing, when you move the bars the engine speed should be constant.
Make sure your cable slack adjustment is correct - it should not be already pulling back the butterflies when the throttle is released.

I suspect the throttle design is fairly ordinary and another rougue factor has crept in!

on the same note, watch for the throttle grip to crawl outward , it will rub against the bar end creating a 'cruise control' of a bad kind with the friction overpowering the return springs on the 'flies.
