Road damage or ?
Usually run in the 30 to 34 psi range. I think I would have remembered when it happened with the SD...

Don't remember seeing it before last tyre change and haven't hit any curbs lately Could have been f'd up on the changer but would like to think that I would have noticed when putting the wheel back on.
I have bent other rims but I usually remember the moment it happens.
I thought that I dinged the front pretty good on a pothole a while back but no bend, maybe I should have checked the back that day also...

Them front wheels are a soft as putty. I dinged one when it jumped out of gear wheelying on the road. Then totally destroyed one getting forced in a kerb ontrack at cadwell. Didnt even feel like a big hit and it bent it back so bad it cracked the alloy at the spoke!

Thats a rear tyre and wheel M8's, and you dont' bend it like that changing a tyre. My guess is it happened when you hit the pot hole with the front tyre. The wheels run the same track ya know. Woodys Wheel Works works wonders.

My bet is the cheapest and fastest way out would be send your bent rim to Woodys. It does not look that bent to me. I really like my SD stock wheels.
Spokes ? Tubes ? Match front with the rear? $$$$$ That is to last centry... and heavy. I think Woodys would fix you up for $100 + - ....

how does woody's do with cracks? I've got a front rim that i was just going to replace, it's bent and one of the spokes has a crack running through. Should i shell out the big bucks or can it be saved

Send Woody a picture. I doubt he'll be able to help though by your description.
I'm looking at about 300$ between transport and the job to fix mine.
I may take a wack at it myself, I work in metal and wield a hammer from time to time.

Was wondering what you guys were on about..."Wheelie much"...obviously a rear wheel.
If the dent was not there before tyre change and then there after, the wheel was dropped without tyre mounted which looks entirely feasable based on the photo.
Based on the photo it appears to be repairable. However, if it has any cracks at all throw the wheel as far as you can.

that's really not much of a bend , and certainly can do something like that with a tyre iron . If yu're godzilla

If your shop is using tyre irons to change tyres on your streetbike wheels you need to find a new shop.

I bent a front rim on my 2000 XR650R doing a end of two day DS event celebration wheely after a knarrly stream crossing. One of my best wheely but I ran out of throtle and landed on this conical bolder that was connected to the center of earth. Ten miles from the finish and I did not want to change a flat so I rode in with out stopping .. It was so bent the guy ( Tom Neilama who puts on the Black Dog Dual Sport Ride in Hood River Or.) noticed it and said "You did not start the day with that rim.
Now to the punch line....I took big hammers to that rim...no frinkin way could I get it rebent. Replaced the rim I got from a bud who went motard and 86ed his 21 inch front for a 17 inch.
No wounder I am gun shy of wheelies now days......but they do go on in my dreams.

Thinking about shearing a 1/4" piece of aluminium the right size to fit between the beads, roll it to fit, strap it to the wheel as a stop/guide then the big mallet. If it doesn't go then maybe torch, 100 ton press....
I haven't noticed any vibes so no rush.

That's what they use...the new steel stick on weights. Lead has been banned in Ca...maybe even the whole of the US.
