Hi guys, today blasting down A road doing 60-70 the bike started losing power shaking like a fuel shortage a big bang and back wheel locks up squirming down the road in the outside lane !
Managed to stop without coming off.
Now the bike wont restart, had to get RAC out to get me home.
One of my mates thinks its mechanical as the back wheel locked up.
Another mate thinks it sounds like ecu packed in ?
Any help advice please, love my bike and just want it fixed asap.
P.s big thanks to fellow superduker & triumph who stopped.

Take out the spark plugs, put it in second or third and rotate the rear wheel.

If the wheel is still locked then jnless the brake is jamed on the engine has siezed ):

'Fraid that sounds mechanical and serious, given locked rear wheel - similar experience, though no loud bang, when mine dropped a valve both times.

Suggest first thing to do is remove plugs - viewtopic.php?f=5&t=25100

The wheel is not locked now and rolls in neutral.
If it was seized or anything like that would it roll ?
Also when trying to start, it sounds clean like no fuel or spark ?

Remove plugs and inspect for damage - see if rear wheel turns in gear with plugs out - if not, engine is locked/seized - turning wheel in neutral only suggests gear box/clutch is not seized/locked.

Does the clutch still work ?

Clutch bolts could have backed out locking rear wheel - this is a known issue on the 990.

Going to let bike shop on it.
1st thing is a compression test.
I'm going to take off all fairings belly pans steering damper, save them time and me money.
Plus they wont get scratched.
Thanks for replies.

Ha ha, just found out off mechanic that the power commander had packed in !
Thought I was down for an engine strip.
He said bike running fine with power commander off.
So anyone got a power commander for sale U.K ?
Im not so clever with the tune ecu, unless anyone lives by me in Liverpool and doesnt mind doing it ?
