Bike misfiring at high revs

Morning Gents,

I'm having an issue with my bike, its a 990 with about 27000 miles on the clock.

Regulator/rectifier was replaced about 2 years ago with a mosfet unit. Throttle bodies were replaced last year and Power Commander removed. Since then the bike has only done a few hundred miles.

I took it out yesterday for the first time in a couple of months. Its been garaged and on a trickle charge It starts OK and tickover is steady. It runs smoothly up to about 7000 revs in low gears, then seems to misfire at around 7000 revs. At first I thought it was hitting the rev limiter. It struggles to rev through to the 9500 rev limiter. It doesn't seem to do it in higher gears (although I haven't figured out exactly in which gears the problem does and doesn't show). With the clutch pulled in it also misfires from about 7000 revs.

There are no fault codes showing with the FI light but I don't have TuneECU.

Any thoughts on what could be causing the problem?

'Starter for ten' - fuel filters, fuel pressure and ignition coils - have replaced latter a few times, no fault code, but casing can crack and faulty at high revs and/or high temp only.

+1 on fuel filters!
Toptip, don't get the ktm filters, they are way overpriced.
Get them on eBay from Greece.
It's a guy from the advrider forum who sells them.

Thanks for the replies chaps

I'm in danger of falling out of love with the bike. I haven't looked forward to riding it all summer and things seem to be going wrong on a regular basis. Hopefully getting this resolved will rekindle the affair!
