Bike stinks... really stinks...

Hi,

So you guessed it - my SD exhaust gas stinks real bad. It smells like it's running very rich but I can still get 45mpg on a gentle run and 37 - 40mpg on a more spirited ride. The exhausts are MIVV carbon fibre jobbies and are very short so could it be that the exhaust gas is just hitting my back more than stock units?

Any suggestions are welcome as to what's going on here...

Cheers
Rob

Replace fuel filter and sync throttle bodies.

I should also mention the bike has only done 1.5k miles so the fuel filter *should* be clean as a whistle! I was also wondering if the mapping was mismatched to the exhausts?

I witnessed the same situation as you when my bike was newish. I have a shortish can design (Graves) also.
I either got use to it or the bike burnt better after the rings seated.
I hate to say it but leave it be for another 1.5 then investigate.
Too rich Too lean Too snatchy Too twitchy Too small a tank Too short a distance between needing tyres Too bad.

I have the same exhaust, my jacket smells like I feel asleep in the garage with it running. I have the Akra map though so I'm not sure if you have the stock map. Bike has 12k miles though.

I have been there before...
Some SD's including mine run incredible rich from new. I could smell my jacket hanging on the laundry line outside after a ride.
one advise worth every penny. Take it to a good dyno and get a proper map made.
You won't believe the difference, much smoother and no stink.

You can thank me later.
