Your on the right track, you need something to desolve the adhesive. Personally I'd try WD-40 as you can squirt it in behind the covers and it desolves most adhesives. Gently pry it with some sort of plastic spatula. Obviously take your time.

Good luck.

I think (?), that the glue that holds those panels on is silicon based.

If you choose to try a silicon removing solvent, make sure to determine that it will not harm the CF resin.

If they are stuck on with silicone then you can just pull them off. It certainly won't harm the casings, you just have to make sure you pull the cover off evenly and don't bend them or force anything. Really slowly is the best way, see if you can feel the silicone give and then work it more in that area. To my knowledge there isn't such a thing as silicone solvent, once it's cured it doesn't dissolve with any chemical I've heard of.

If they are held on with double sided pads then the best solvent is lighter fluid -the liquid stuff for filling old fashioned lighters. Or cellulose thinners.

Interesting stuff that. The fact that it claims to be 'low odour' suggest that it is not a solvent based chemical. I wonder if it really works by getting in between the bond between the silicone and surface rather than actually dissolving the silicone itself? Anyway if it works it's a good find!
