Hi Guys,
I go on hols to Germany on Thursday on the SD and it's just put me to the test.
The cooling fan isn't working so the engine is overheating. I've run a battery to the last connection on the loom before the fan and this shows the fan is working fine. So it's not getting power. I suspect this must be somehow linked to the water temperature sensor or some other electronic failure that is stopping the fan receiving power when the coolant water reaches it's correct temp.
Problem is, how do I go about checking this out? Is there some way to test the sensor or is it likely to be something else completely? Time is against me on this one, so any good ideas from guys who understand these things would be helpful.
Cheers

Manny,
The thermo switch is a simple normally open switch.
Unplug the sensor and short the loom connection to see if the fan fires up.If it does then replacing the sensor is simple.
The thread from memory is 18mm x 1.5 and there are a host of switches you can use as replacements ranging form various 4 cylinder cars through to tl1000s and some quad bikes.Standard Temp is 102c? i replaced mine with a 95-100c
Open your radiator cap and siphon a little coolant off to below the switch level, replace switch and refill, Job done.

If it's a desperate rush and the switch is normally open and you cant fix it, just run a couple of wires and a switch and manually operate the thing.
