Mate the dealer did the first service on my bike and did it for free as part of the deal. Now the dealers will tell you that you need to have valves checked on first service but this is not the case any more so if they try that on you is all bull.
Just do it yourself change oil and filer plus clean screens. It takes a bit of time but its no big deal.
If you do have a warranty issue between now and June and they wont cover it well that is just GAY! As most dealers will not have a problem with it.
Most owners do a better job than the shop mechanic anyhow.

Do it yourself, get the bits from them though and keep receipts for future reference.

Oil change

As for the 9k miles it's a fairly big but not too complicated job. Along with valve check you need to change all other fluids as well. There is a useful list of everything that needs to be checked in the owners manual.

I am due for the first service as well. So what I am gathering from the populous is just have them do the oil change and not much more then that. I still have a year and a half on my warranty and I'd hate for it to be void by not having them do other bits.
