So to be clear, I don't think that ethanol belongs in motor fuel. I feel it works much better in a glass, preferably when that glass is in front of me. However, I was thinking with my efforts to get rid of years and years of intake varnish, (and exhaust carbon), I thought maybe a tank or 2 of E85 might leave everything squeaky clean. To recap, my SD990 sat on a showroom floor for 10 years, started occasionally, never run long. I got most of the varnish out with various cleaners, lots of towels and air, but some still remains. I got it mostly back together with an Akra exhaust, Rotty intake, and all of the emissions stuff removed/bypassed. So right now it's just a (new) fuel line going to the injectors and exhausting to a simple header and cans. I have a JD Jetting EFI gizmo for fuel delivery tuning, (works great so far BTW), so it's easy to richen the mixture to account for the lighter/weaker alcohol. Would the E85 eat up the the tank, or fuel pump, or something else I haven't thought of? There is a station in town that sells it, so that got me kicking around the idea. I was thinking of filling up an almost empty tank, adjusting the EFI, going for a long ride until I see the fuel light, then refuel with normal gas and going home. Any opinions?

E85 is 85% ethanol which is Highly corrosive ?????
This will cause more damage to your fuel lines n fuel injectors !!!!!
High test n Sea foam fuel treat is the way to go !!!!
I use shell 93 n Star tron in all my bikes !!!!
If you go the E85 route let use know how you make out !!!

If the bike runs fine I wouldn`t worry about any varnish and just ride it.

Stay far away from E85, it will eat the tank and everything downstream. If I were you I would just run a bit of Sea Foam for the next few tanks and call it a day.
