Hey there 990 guys.

I'm having a new issue on my '07 SD with 13k mi.
Was running fine when I gasses it a bit to overtake a city bus. Engine cuts out, dead bike(!).
I hobble to an ally way. Starts in neutral but when I engage any gear, cuts off. Waited 15 mins and it starts again. Kept doing this the whole ride home. I think it might be a dirty and gummed up side stand switch or something.
Anyone have this issue before?
If so will a deep clean fix it or what's the replacement process?

It's rendered the bike in reliable at the moment.

Search 'engine cutting out' and 'side stand switch' in technical and how to do it sections - lots of info available.
