Every so often I get an FI error code. It's very sporadic - the F! light comes on permanently when I'm riding - so far once on a motorway, then once in town and yesterday on fast A roads. When you slow down it starts flashing. Seems to have one long flash, then eight shorter ones. Then it repeats. But when I switch off ignition it all starts up OK with no error code and is fine. Bike runs absolutely fine, can't feel any problem with ignition or fueling or anything, if it wasn't for the light then I wouldn't think anything was wrong.
I have the manual with all the error codes in but not sure if I'm meant to count the first flash as a number or not? Do I have error code 9? This says it is a rear cylinder intake manifold sensor reading. But this doesn't tell me if there is a problem does it?
Anyway what does it all mean?

I guess it's either a 9 or an 18. My feeling is the latter.
If it is 18 it's Lambda Probe Heater failure on the front cylinder.
Curious because I assume you've used TuneECU to turn it off. I guess it is possible that the heater function of
the probe is still read by the ECU and that is what is being reported. Have you removed your Lambda's or
are they still connected? I wonder if you have a plug that has a failing resister in it?
If it is a 9 then I guess it is Manifold Air Pressure sensor on the rear cylinder. I guess check all connectors
and then the sensor by replacement.

Yeah, I have no lambda sensors now, removed them years ago along with the SAS.
I think it might be something to do with fitting the SDR trumpets a few weeks ago. I'll have a look - want to reassure myself the rear one hasn't fallen off and is rattling about in the Motobox! I might try refitting standard trumpets just to see if it resolves the problem. Trouble is it happens so infrequently it's not an easy thing to test.

You haven't loaded a US map? Because if you have you will get charcoal system FI error.

Yes, I meant the RC8 stacks. i did modify the clips before I fitted them because they were so tight and did not allow enough turn to locate them into place. Maybe I made them too slack and one has dropped off. Don't think so though - but better safe to check.
This error code is new though. nothing to do with previous work - I've been running a modified SAS, airbox, exhaust for many, many years with no codes showing at all. I did the resistor mod to the plug thing when I removed the SAS.

hey Bic
i get this code every once in a while , usually after i have washed the bike . i always put it down to a little moisture kicking about in the plug with the o2 sensor eliminator . like you ignition off , back on and no code . cant say am worried about it as if was a live code it would remain . have removed the eliminators in the past and blown out with compressed air and treated with a little vaseline on the connectors and back together . light stays off for longer but still has an occasional flash . bike runs sweet all the time . just carried out major service - plugs , valve clearances etc no signs of poor running all looking sweet as it should .
take it easy

My front O2 sensor played up for a bit. You probably disturbed it when you took the Motobox apart Bic. I'd take open it up, bit of dielectric grease and that should cure the code.
