So I've got my rocker covers off checking the valve lash on my SD and come to find out I don't know what the numbers on the gauge indicate. I figured it'd be something like .015 or .020 but nope. Each gauge has a group of numbers on it and it has me quite confused. Here are my measurements on the rear cylinder:

.004 .102
.006 .152 MM

.005 .127
.007 .178 MM

.008 .203
.010 .254 MM

The first 2 readings are my intake valves. The last reading is the same for both of my exhaust valves. Any help would be appreciated. I know the correct specs that the bike is supposed to be in but I don't know how/which number to convert in order to check.

Valve clearance is 0.10 - 0.15mm (or 0.004 to 0.006 thousandths of an inch) for intakes and 0.25 - 0.30mm (or 0.010 - 0.012 thousandths of an inch) exhausts.

So, if your 0.004 guage goes and your 0.006 guage does not your intake valves are in spec. Same for the exhaust using exhaust specs at TDC!

Download the manual and follow the instructions in section 12-15...Checking and adjusting the valve clearance.
